Im sure some idiot at Audi thought these Green Police commercials for the Super Bowl would be funny. I found them downright offensive and not the least bit funny.
In the collection of ads below, you see a guy at the store pick plastic when the checkout gal asks paper or plastic and the Green Police immediately arrest the earth-destroyer for his intended assault on Mother Gaia. (Didnt these enviro-idiots come up with the plastic bags some 20 years ago to save the earth from all the trees being killed for paper bags?) You also have Green Police digging through peoples trash for batteries, and shining a searchlight into a guys kitchen for putting (or not puttingnot being a green wacko, Im not sure which is proper) something down his drain. And (oh my) we have evil maniacs being busted for using incandescent light bulbs, plastic water bottles, and having the water too warm in the hot tub. Of course at the end of the commercial, you have the greenie driving an eco-friendly car who is blessed by the Green Police High Priests.
If Audi really meant to point out the idiocy of the green movement and its very real threats to freedom they failed to deliver anything which clues the viewer in to a message that We think this is nuts. The commercial is presented with too much seriousness to be taken any other way than as approval of such Gestapo tactics. But if Audi wants to appeal to the real environmental wacko out there, they definitely hit the mark with these commercials.
~snip~
These earth-worshipping morons might have thought they were being cute; maybe theyve been drinking too much of their own Koolaid and have totally lost touch with reality.

It wasn't particularly offensive to me as it was disturbing in it's depiction of a future too many are all too willing to accept in giving up their freedoms to the environmental (green) movement. Including the major corporation I work for.
And no, Springtime for Hitler was hilarious.
Motives schmotives, it’s already well known that the things that the green police went after were or are shortly to be verboten. Nobody with even a trace of libertarian streak is going to fail to be outraged at the idea, or to ask what will buying this Audi possibly do about the situation.
I thought it was funny, and a not-too-subtle poke at the absurd extremes the enviro-wackos will go to.
I think the commercial was a picture of how fanatic the “green” people have been getting lately. It pointed out how far the government will go to infringe upon the rights of its citizens.
Judging by the mixed reaction on this, as well as other on-topic threads, I'd say they failed miserably to get this across (if this was truly their intention). If an add fails to get it's message across to the majority of viewers, as this one did, and if people have to purposely defend it, that's far from genius.
It was very funny......
Using humor could be an avenue for getting through to these left wing loons. Let’s face it, the langauge of reason doesn’t work.
They may have tried to split the uprights, but in my opinion they pushed it far left, like that loopy Colts field goal attempt. Just for my own purposes, I scored all of the Super Bowl commercials on a “Fun and Suprise Ending” scale of 1 to 5. The Audi ad scored a minus five due to downright scariness. Humor about opression is a hard target to hit. They missed.
Oh, I shocked a few folks at the gathering I was at by saying “time to shoot back” over and over again.
I was outraged at what was going on. But today, I am glad that more people are seeing this and perhaps saying “is this what I want in my country?”
I thought it was funny too! I don't watch the super bowl ads for shopping ideas, I watch them for their humor and creativity.........
I’ve read 3-4 threads on this commercial, so I know I’m going to get flamed. I thought it was one of the better commercials and found it to be funny. I think people are taking it the wrong way.
1. Audi was making fun of the green movement, showing how ridiculous the world has (may) become.
2. Audi was also alluding that you don’t have to drive golf-cart hybrids to be clean. I personally don’t find anything wrong with better, cleaner technology, as long as the market supports it and I’m not forced by legislation to use it. I didn’t feel like Audi was supporting all of these “green” tactics.
Personally, I think diesel cars make more sense than hybrids. They’re more fun to drive and they get good gas mileage. I like the power of V6 sedans, but having driven a Volkswagon TDI, I’d gladly buy a diesel Honda Accord instead of a V6 version.
If Audi would provide information on its website about how to try to politically counter these green police, they would provide a powerful channel for the sense of outrage. For a quasi libertarian like me, it’s like “why the hell should I play along with THAT system and that includes buying your car?”
Although the ad was a little weird, Audi's attitude is clearly that the "Green Police" are not a good thing. Doesn't that fit with the POV of conservatives?
So, why does this dim writer decry the ad? If the ad was not to sell a car, but to warn of a very bad idea that is coming our way, would the writer have complained about it or lauded it?
I was able to read between the lines and see that it was a warning to our possible future, but most libtards probably thought it was a good idea.
They’re funny ads, and anybody that didn’t get the “this is nuts” message was deliberately not paying attention.
What will you think when you see an Audi on the road next time? First few things that come to mind for me.
green
avoids future shock
safe
anti-establishment
You’re talking about it. You hate how you feel. But what will Audi do for you if that dark day of fascism comes? God, it’s pure psychological genius. And hell, if you hate Audi there is another german car with similar features that you may buy. It’s a Volkswagon and VW owns Audi.
It’s the same with the Hyundai commercials talking about safety and reliability. Where do you go to buy a car if you were looking at Toyotas and were turned off? Hyundai with the 10 yr 100,000 warranty. Who owns Hyundai? Toyota.
Makes you think.
I thought it was hilarious. But I’m weird that way.
If you are a globull warming/climate change cultist your hero "green police" are like you , true believer zealots, just with a cutaway before the summary execution of the ignorant, unwashed offender.
If you are a Marxist fighting patriot, the green contra-Constitutional eco-terrorists are portrayed in absolute accuracy.
Cut the last few seconds of the Audi diesel being given a pass by the watermelon jackboots and it is the perfect political satire.
I suppose a deep Rat might say (pinching nose) “no there aren’t any green police!”
