NEW YORK -- Even the long-awaited Super Bowl ad from conservative group Focus on the Family came with a punchline -- a hard hit and a soft sell. The 30-second "Celebrate family, celebrate life" ad starring Heisman winner Tim Tebow ended with a surprise -- Tim Tebow tackling his mother after she says she nearly lost him during her pregnancy. The pair jokes that they have to be "tough" with all the family has been through. The Women's Media Center, which had objected to Focus on the Family advertising in the Super Bowl, said it was expecting a "benign" ad but not the humor. But the group's president, Jehmu Greene, said the tackle showed an undercurrent of violence against women.

I saw the ad and thought....those groups who were screaming about it come out looking like fools. Looks like not only that, they are STILL looking like fools.

After reading that statement, I now want to punch Jehmu Greene in the head. Does that mean that womyns groups cause an undercurrent of violence?

There’s an alt version where he doesn’t tackle his mother but comes up from behind her and hugs her. No doubt the left found a reason to gnash and grind their teeth anyway.

They can’t help themselves - they HAVE to scream out about any reminder of their sin and the consequences thereof.

The “tackling his mom part” was dumb.

But otherwise a very appropriate and subtle commercial.

They showed a loving Mother and Son rough housing. What is the world coming to? So wrestling with my kids is a undercurrent of child abuse. Give me a break, I failed to see anything in that very short ad the could be construed as offensive in any way.

A gentle message that happens to be a dagger to the heart of the left. American leftists and democrats have picked the banner under which they march and it certainly isn’t a Christian banner.

More like an “anti-Christ”ian banner that they’re marching under, isn’t it?

"But the group's president, Jehmu Greene, said the tackle showed an undercurrent of violence against women."

These same groups who can't see a little humor in an add are the same people that never speak out about the "real" treament of women in Muslim countries.

I always can gauge by how loudly they scream how effective they think something’s going to be. Honestly, even if you believed that abortion was a decision between a woman and her doctor, you would not think there was anything wrong with encouraging women NOT to abort. The problem is, I think, that these people really back abortion on demand for an entirely different and much less savory reason.

focus on the family.....click on the The Tim Tebow Story then click on the lower right where the ad is. Let it run after the first one ends.

[But the group’s president, Jehmu Greene, said the tackle showed an undercurrent of violence against women.]

Have these “women’s” groups not made themselves look foolish enough yet? I hope they run with this phony complaint and destroy even more of their credibility and appear even more petty.

The “tackling his mom part” was the best, most memorable piece of the ad. Funny and affectionate.

Considering it was sandwiched around the Careerbuilder ad with everyone in their underware and the Dockers commercial with the men singing about not wearing pants and you have to wonder if that gay dating site commercial would have been such a big deal?

The snicker commercial was funny!

We replayed it because I couldn’t belief the pro death folks were complaining about such an innocent commercial.

If they hadn’t made such a stink about it, no one would have even noticed the “pro-life” theme. They look really stupid now...
