An explosion in Middletown, Connecticut has rocked the town. Initial reports are that about a dozen people have been injured.
Middletown, United States - The Middletown Fire Department just said in a phone interview that they are in the process of putting out a second alarm. There are an unknown number of casualities. The explosion took place at NRG Power Plant on River Road. According to their web site they are the fossil-fueled electric generating plant in the state. Reports are saying that the blast could be felt as far away as Durham.

You and yours are in my prayers.
“Wow...WMRD 1150-AM seems to be right under the plant.”
Very strong radio waves can cause sparks too. This is why they tell you to not use cell phones when pumping gasoline.
And that AM station is about 5000 times the power that your cell phone is.
It looks as if it was an accident, as of today....
Gosh, I am so sorry, I am up here with you, let me know if you need any help...If I can!
Prayers are with you and your wife.
That’s a relief! Thank you for the insight, dearest sister in Christ!
I did a blow down at Santa Rosa station in Peru in 2006, did you ever do that on start up?
Did they ground anything in the US if you did it?
We grounded NOTHING when we did, all that gas going out the pipe at high velocity...man, I definitely did NOT want to stand near that thing!
If you want an outline construction/start up procedure, I will give you one that I stole, you supply the ANSI/ASME references, from 1984 worked in the middle of Boston during a gas conversion of two 380 MW units.
thank you, both.
and I know who the real Race Bannon was ;-) and one of his pals was named “Hadji”
Race Bannon is a Force, at least in my experience, and a damned nice fellow, at least in my experience. As some Marylander told him in West Virgina, “Martha, can you believe it! A Conservative from Connecticut!
well, Bill, he ain’t the only conservative in CT, there are a few of us.
I only mention Race because I know him, he is not shy and helped us out when I was FReepin in Mass.
I’m praying that God gives you and yours the strength to endure during these very difficult times. Hopefully there will be a positive outcome.
So sorry to hear about your wife, camle. We’ll keep both of you in our prayers. You must be exhausted.
He sure is taking his time.”
You have my deepest sympathy. My late husband needed supervision 24/7/365 for his last 3 years. He did not want to die in a hospital so I cared for him at home and hospice sent in a nurse once a day at the end. Be kind to yourself, try to eat well. You may not have much appetite, but try to eat very nutritious food when you can. Take vitamin and mineral supplements. You don’t want your health to fail too and become a burden to others in the family. It may be a year or two before you recover physically and emotionally from an ordeal like this. Use your support systems or develop one. Grieve/cry as much as you can. The more you do, the quicker you will begin to feel better. Don’t know what else to say. Words are so frail at times like these.
I’ll appreciate hearing from you about your updates.
Let the family know we (fellow power plant workers, designers and engineers) are thinking of them.
Prayers up for you and your wife.
I grew up on Coleman Road in Middletown, CT. Have relatives who live there and will be contacting them. Hubby and I are in GA on our way home from Nashville. Just heard about the problem in Middletown.
