NASA's Prophet Will Give You Nightmares

Ignore James Hansen's climate predictions at your peril.___ I started reading James Hansen's new book, Storms of My Grandchildren, at the edge of a vanishing Arctic. I sat on a bare brown Greenland hillside listening to the ferocious crack and crash of the dying glaciers in the distance. As I watched the corpse of the ice sheet float by, broken into a thousand icebergs, it seemed the right place to begin the leading NASA scientist's explanation for what I was seeing. Since the year I was born, 1979, 40 percent of the Arctic sea ice has vanished. If we don't change our behavior fast, Hansen says I will live to see the day when it is all gone, and the North Pole is a point in the open ocean, reachable by boat. He stresses these are only the starting symptoms of a planetary fever that will remake the map of the world—and the capacity of human beings to survive on it. I finished reading the book at the Copenhagen climate summit, where the world's leaders gathered to offer a giant shrug.

Professor Hansen has been driven into a strange situation, and produced a strange book. For one-third of a century now, this cantankerous scientist has been more accurate in his predictions about global warming than anyone else alive. He saw these disastrous changes coming long before others did, and the U.S. government has tried to censor or sack him for his prescience. Now he has written a whistle-blower's account while still at the top: a story of how our political system is so wilfully, deliberately blind to environmental realities that we have no choice now but for American citizens to take direct physical action against the polluters.

Revelations probably has more scientific credibility than Mr. Hansen's fevered propaganda.

Hansen is a fraud who believes his own scam. Take away the bad data, and which of Hansen’s global warming prophecies has come true?

If every human on the face of the Earth ceased all activity and put zero emissions into the air, it wouldn’t stop the climate change taking place now. What’s happening now is happening because of natural forces, not because of what we are doing.

Wow! I suppose this stooge hasn’t even read some of those East Anglia emails or chose to ignore them because he’s too intellectually lazy to re-examine his false belief in AGW.

Your prophet is a corrupt stooge that very well may be forced to resign in disgrace if we get a sane president in the future.

Maybe we should point out to these people that when you go to the Arctic Sea in the summer there is less ice than when you visit in the winter, then everything is all frozen up again.

>> This is only one of a dozen effects of global warming that are just as terrifying. If we burn all the world’s remaining fossil fuels, there is only one precedent in the climate record for the warming that will occur. It happened at the end of the Permian period 251 million years ago, when the world warmed by 6 degrees. The result? Almost everything on Earth died. A solitary pig-sized creature, the Lystrosaurus, had the land to itself for another 30 million years. Hansen’s is the only nonfiction book to ever give me nightmares. <<

IDIOT!!!! The Permian Extinction was not caused by the warming of the planet a mere 6 degrees, but by other factors, one such factor may have been rapidly increased volcanic activity and another theory could have been Gamma Ray Burst leaving to massive amounts of Nitrous Oxide int he Atmosphere, NOT CO2. Plus at the time we had a “Super Continent” called Pangea which could have increase the effects of some of the above mentioned causes.

Doesn't that sound like a call for people to storm the gates of Exxon, PG&E, etc.?

This so-called “science” is a religion to the left. It has other advantages for Mr. Hansen as well, including attractive advances for his books, and invitations to speak at “climate change” conferences all over the world and deliver his message to the true believers.

False religion and personal gain combine to make a potent combination, but one that has little relationship to the truth.

Oh, I neglected to mention the opportunity to be fawned over by journalists in search of a story. However, depending on the circumstance, that may or may not be credited as an inducement.

The main problem with folks who buy into this silliness is that they can only consider what they're seeing with their own eyes. They can't imagine anything different, so they can't imagine that this might have happened before, many times in fact, and even before humans were on the planet.

Since THEIR lives are of paramount importance, everything that happens in their lifetimes is what determines the future.
