Breitbart Claim: Jailed O'Keefe Couldn't Access Attorney For Hours

Interviewed on Fox just moments ago, Andrew Breitbart claimed that alleged Landrieu phone tamperer James O'Keefe "sat in jail for 28 hours without access to an attorney."

Breitbart, who has been on a public campaign defending O'Keefe, a paid contributor to Breitbart's BigGovernment.com, also charged that the U.S. Attorney's office in Louisiana leaked information to the press "helping" them to frame the episode as "Watergate Junior."

Breitbart complained that after the news of the arrests broke last Tuesday, O'Keefe's attorney and Breitbart himself were being called by the media but they could not locate O'Keefe -- "and that's because he was sitting in jail without access to an attorney," Breitbart said.

He accused the U.S. attorney of leaking information to the media in a "concerted effort" to frame the episode in a way that would put O'Keefe in a bad position.

Asked by Fox's Megyn Kelly what motivation the U.S. Attorney would have to make such an effort, Breitbart responded: "Well, it's tied to the Justice Department. And we've been very aggressive in asking Eric Holder to investigate what's seen on the ACORN tapes, and he's ignored it."

Red diaper doper babies are in charge of the goverment. They play by Saul Alinsky’s rule book.

THAT is what is wrong with this picture.

Who says James O’Keefe was tampering with equipment?
Do you believe these trumped up charges?
O’Keefe is a journalists, and he was there in that capacity.
He was documenting the facts with his digital recorder.

How easily you buy into the smearing of an American patriot by the regime.

The way I heard it there was inquiry into why Landrieu’s office phones were “busy” unable to take calls from constituents angry over her accepting a payoff “on behalf of Louisiana” from Obama to support Obamacare.

The investigative journalists were supposedly checking the phone lines (placing outgoing calls, no other equipment necessary) to see if the phones did indeed work. Calls could go out but not into the office (from a cellphone to the office for example).

But transparency is just a word to the Democrats. An advertising slogan like “All Natural Citizenship”.

http://bigjournalism.com/jokeefe/2010/01/29/statement-from-james-okeefe/

O’Keefe stated:

“No one tried to wiretap or bug Senator Landrieu’s office. Nor did we try to cut or shut down her phone lines. Reports to this effect over the past 48 hours are inaccurate and false ...
I learned from a number of sources that many of Senator Landrieu’s constituents were having trouble getting through to her office to tell her that they didn’t want her taking millions of federal dollars in exchange for her vote on the healthcare bill. When asked about this, Senator Landrieu’s explanation was that, “Our lines have been jammed for weeks.” I decided to investigate why a representative of the people would be out of touch with her constituents for “weeks” because her phones were broken. In investigating this matter, we decided to visit Senator Landrieu’s district office – the people’s office – to ask the staff if their phones were working.
On reflection, I could have used a different approach to this investigation, particularly given the sensitivities that people understandably have about security in a federal building. The sole intent of our investigation was to determine whether or not Senator Landrieu was purposely trying to avoid constituents who were calling to register their views to her as their Senator. We video taped the entire visit, the government has those tapes, and I’m eager for them to be released because they refute the false claims being repeated by much of the mainstream media.

It has been amazing to witness the journalistic malpractice committed by many of the organizations covering this story. MSNBC falsely claimed that I violated a non-existent “gag order.” The Associated Press incorrectly reported that I “broke in” to an office which is open to the public. The Washington Post has now had to print corrections in two stories on me. And these are just a few examples of inaccurate and false reporting. The public will judge whether reporters who can’t get their facts straight have the credibility to question my integrity as a journalist. “

MSM ran with the wiretapping story and it became the meme and continues. Dozens of requests for corrections have been made; several, including the Washington Post, Times Picayune (although in a ‘stealth’ manner)and CBS have corrected themslves.

This is what I heard too. The real crime is that Senator Landrieu wasn’t answering her phones!

Why does this surprise so many? We knew they would do this to someone eventually.

It'll get worse before we can make it better.

Remember that case where the American kid was in indonesia or somewhere, and he vandalized a car, and they were going to "cane" him...and actually did? I forgot the exact details, but that is what is going on here...O'Keefe is being (so far only sybolically) caned as a warning to other to not mess with ACORN or any of the obama eisenkreutz groups lest the same thing happen to anyone who tries.

It doesn't matter that the ACORN members totally incrimiated themselves, they want to pull a "chicago" on the whistleblower.

Our goal between now and November should be to make it a point to NOT let any democrat win ANY RACE between now and then.

We can weather this whole thing with SHEER NUMBERS, as more than 2/3rds of Americans are tired of this crap. They did it in Tallahassee and Miami in 2000 when democrats tried to ajourn to backrooms to "count" the ballots, conservatives stormed down the halls and took a seat to demand and insure the vote was fair.

Retiring to an anteroom to plot our demise is NOT and option the democrats need to be allowed to carry out.

Landrieu had been saying that something must be wrong with her phones, and that’s why no one could get through to her office by telephone, to give their position on health care legislations or anything. She also said so many calls were coming in, that’s why none could get through, the lines were busy.

James went to her office to see if that was true. He had friends with him to verify what he was doing. Upon be ing told that the phones weren’t working, he or others looked at the phones, and at the phone room, to see if there was something out of order.

Landrieu and/or her staff called the FBI, in the same building (Federal Building) and had James arrested on trumped up charges of wiretapping.

Instead, James was charged with some kind of tampering, and released on bail on a MISDEMEANOR.

Is not allowing a call to attorney legal? Seems like James might have some redress!

Sorry to bust your bubble pal but I don’t believe everything that is told me, shock I know. THe fact is he had zero authority to even pick up a phone in that building with out permission, let alone play with them, even if it was to highlight a lie. He has admitted to going in there representing something he wasn’t, which is a crime. We shouldn’t fall into the trap that just because he is a conservative who has done good does not make what he does always right.

Don’t be a tool for the 0bama regime.
Journalists still have a right to report under the 1st Amendment.
Remember the Constitution?
Believe it or not, it still is technically the law of 0bamastan.
