Highlights:
*The president in the speech declared that his administration has cut taxes for 95% of Americans. He even chided Republicans for not applauding on that point. However, just 21% of voters nationwide believe that taxes have been cut for 95% of Americans. Most (53%) say it has not happened, and 26% are not sure. Other polling shows that nearly half the nation’s voters expect their own taxes to go up during the Obama years.
*The president also asserted that “after two years of recession, the economy is growing again.” Just 35% of voters believe that statement is true, while 50% say it is false.
*Obama claimed that steps taken by his team are responsible for putting two million people to work “who would otherwise be unemployed.” Just 27% of voters say that statement is true. Fifty-one percent (51%) say it's false.
*On all the points raised in the president’s speech, there is a huge partisan divide. On the question of cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, hardly any Republicans or unaffiliated voters believe it's true. However, Democrats are evenly divided: 34% say the tax cuts have been delivered, 29% say they haven’t, and 38% are not sure.
*Sixty-three percent (63%) of Democrats agree with the president’s statement that the economy is growing again. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans and 60% of unaffiliated voters disagree.
*As for the claim about two million jobs, 46% of Democrats say it’s true, while 77% of Republicans say it’s not. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 24% say it’s true, and 59% say it’s false.
*Regarding another initiative detailed in the speech on Wednesday night, just nine percent (9%) of voters believe the president’s proposed freeze on discretionary spending will have a big impact on the deficit.

I don’t believe the figure of 5.7% growth in GDP that all the networks are spouting about.
I think it is just plain not true.
I also would like to see the figures from every quarter since 2003, which is the time period NObama is bragging about he topped.
I don’t remember anything like this lack of growth- especially in 2003-04-05.

I think they went to give him a verbal ass whopping after he threw the separation of powers overboard at the SOTU speech. Also, Papa Bush went after some of his old buds on his famous Rolodex called him to go and try to talk some sense into this guy before the country goes down the toilet financially.
What we wouldn't give to have Charles Krauthammer give us his "professional" opinion of "O".
IMHO I still say he will resign because of mental instability, and the Dem's are going to ask him to stop their losses before he Destroy's their party...

He was pressured by the Republican leadership to issue an apology. He did but only for choosing the wrong setting. Then he spent weeks speaking out on the issue and won the point in legislation.
Since then I think I’ve seen his name once or twice on the sidebar. I don’t remember for what unfortunately but it has not been my impression he crawled into a hole and died.
The characterization of Wilson given after the incident was that he had a quiet personaility and was generally affable which is why close acquaintances were shocked when he did that. In otherwords his outburst was passionate but spontaneous. Out of character/nature. A tell of how offended he was I imagine to let loose against his nature like that.
You can’t make someone a leader and you can’t ask them to act against their personality. I don’t have the sense he’s comfortable as a leader. Doesn’t mean he can’t quietly perform valuable service behind the scenes. If you’ve evidence he isn’t, please present it.

Here in Calif for a modest living yes there was a slighty less tax burden, but Calif made up the difference So a net 0

My wife and I have not seen any tax cut at all in any kind of way.
Can someone explain who this 95% of the people are as I do not know anyone yet who has had a tax cut.
I keep hearing this 95% all the time, and no one ever challenges him not that he gets questioned hard enough as it is but he keeps saying it and no one is disputing it.
I nearly fainted when he said C,SPAN had been covering the health care debate.

It’s not like he’s going to jump and shout “you lie” every time he’s in the same room with Bozo, and he’d look like an idiot if he did.
Last March the fed took less in withholding.
My paycheck increased about $35 a month for about a month until pay cuts and California tax increases kicked in over the year.
It was not a tax cut it was just a change in the withholding tables. This year the withholding tables changed again and as others have noted paychecks shrunk at the beginning of the year and for for my pay level about $15 a month.
There were no tax cuts just withholding changes and we are all paying for those withholding changes as we do our ‘09 taxes.
Just another instance of 0bama, YOU LIE.
