Howard Zinn, an author, teacher and political activist whose leftist "A People's History of the United States" became a million-selling alternative to mainstream texts and a favorite of such celebrities as Bruce Springsteen and Ben Affleck, died Wednesday. He was 87.

Zinn died of a heart attack in Santa Monica, Calif., daughter Myla Kabat-Zinn said. The historian was a resident of Auburndale, Mass.

At a time when few politicians dared even call themselves liberal, "A People's History" told an openly left-wing story. Zinn charged Christopher Columbus and other explorers with genocide, picked apart presidents from Andrew Jackson to Franklin D. Roosevelt and celebrated workers, feminists and war resisters

On the bright side for him, he can see his Heroes, Stalin and Lenin in person right now. It’s just that it might be a bit on the hot side.

daughter Myla Kabat-Zinn

I find it hilarious when a woman keeps her maiden name even though that name is from the male patriarch of the family. Real sign of a true feminist?

What a downer this dude was, find anything to feel good about and he’d tell you how it was hateful, murderous, and evil. We stopped Hitler? Well yeah but we bombed Dresden and besides, he was our fault anyway, that sort of thing. So for his eulogy I propose they honor the spirit of his scholarship by saying “He wrote a book called the peoples history of the US, and 10 million trees died to print it. Their loss was directly responsible for global warming which is going to destroy the planet. Nice going, you selfish capitalist pig!”

Zinn, as a liberal probably doesn’t believe in hell. But boy, will that change when he meets his commie heroes in a place where SPF 2000 wont do a thing..

I guess we can assume that is one less vote for obama in 2012.

Of course, he was a dem and he’ll have been dead less than 3 years by then, which is pretty young-dead for that slice of the dem constituency.

Howard Zinn: BURN IN HELL!

Zinn, that despicable piece of trash, goes to his grave with the souls of millions of murdered Vietnamese and Cambodians stomping him vengefully into the deepest pits of hell.

American leftists are the world's biggest enablers of genocidal murderers, criminal states, political torture, and warfare. Good to see one of their "intellectual" leaders is now rotting in hell... but too bad the damage is done, millions tortured and slaughtered, and generations to come will continue to pay the prices.

It wouldn’t be bad if his damned books hadn’t been used to brainwash several generations of American children.

I had a funny incident a few years back. My mother-in-law (rest her soul) was a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, active in liberal town politics. We crossed swords a few times, and not only because I gave back in heavier proportion than I got, but my wife put her foot down and told her not to poke her politics at me.

Anyway, she knew I was a big history buff, and one year for Christmas she gave me his “famous book”. Now, I had never heard of this guy before, but I thought “Great! I love American History!”

I don’t think I made it past the first page without a creeping feeling there was something wrong, and by a few pages in, I was thinking “WTF is this?”

So I began skipping to different significant historical points in time and within two or three openings of the book, I walked into the garage and threw the disgusting tome in the trashcan.

I mentioned it to my wife, and she told her mom. Her mom read a lot, but apparently didn’t know that particular book and just bought it off sale shelf outside the entrance to a Borders book store.

I always wondered if she did it on purpose, but for some reason I cannot fathom, my gut tells me absolutely not.

But about the book...I could not believe that was being used as a school textbook! It was vile.
