The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said Rush Limbaugh reached a new low with "borderline anti-Semitic comments" on his radio show, in which he raised the possibility that liberal Jews were having "buyer's remorse" with President Obama in light of the outcome of the Senate election in Massachusetts.
Limbaugh told his listeners: "To some people, banker is a code word for Jewish; and guess who Obama is assaulting? He's assaulting bankers. He's assaulting money people. And a lot of those people on Wall Street are Jewish. So I wonder if there's if there's starting to be some buyer's remorse there."
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:
Rush Limbaugh reached a new low with his borderline anti-Semitic comments about Jews as bankers, their supposed influence on Wall Street, and how they vote.
Limbaugh's references to Jews and money in a discussion of Massachusetts politics were offensive and inappropriate. While the age-old stereotype about Jews and money has a long and sordid history, it also remains one of the main pillars of anti-Semitism and is widely accepted by many Americans. His notion that Jews vote based on their religion, rather than on their interests as Americans, plays into the hands of anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists.
When he comes to understand why his words were so offensive and unacceptable, Limbaugh should apologize.
It’s liberal jews like Foxman that sold their Isreali brothers and sisters out by voting for Obama. And now he has the gall to slam Rush. The day folks like Foxman should have had buyers remorse was the day the Obama Administration including Rahm Emanuel tried to link efforts at thwarting Iran to Israeli/Palestinian peace talks. How do these people sleep at night?!
Foxman and all the other Lilliputians who try to ride Rush's tailcoat in order to draw attention to themselves depend on their listeners or readers NOT to have heard what Rush actually said, just what they say Rush said. They don't realize or care that they're typically hearing second hand lies.

In a more narrow context, Obama is going after the bankers. Many of the bankers are Democrats who blindly endorsed Obama and many bankers are also Jewish. Nothing wrong with that except many of these same people (not all bankers and not all Jews) didn't expect Obama to single them out so harshly as targets of populist outrage.
Hitler scapegoated the Jews and Limbaugh is wondering if Obama is subtly scapegoating the same group in his persecution of bankers. And, he notes, many Jews are the staunchest allies of the Democrat Party.
I think Limbaugh should have been more clear in drawing the distinction that not all bankers are Jews and not all Jews are Democrats but I think I understood where he was going yet I thought he was uncharacteristically poor in the way he constructed his thoughts.
It's no surprise that the Left will try to decry this as anti-Semitism but my only problem with what he said was that he wasn't clear enough in drawing the distinction that this didn't apply to all bankers or all Jews.

For the life of me (and I'm Jewish), I cannot understand why so many members of my family are liberals, and sometimes espouse Marxist views!
Of course, I seem to be the "black sheep" of the family. Small-L libertarian, somewhere between Neal Boortz and Dr. Walter Williams, and I like motorcycles and guns. The last part REALLY rankles them! I have a cousin who heard me talking to a friend about a gun, and she went ballistic! She said, "I can't believe you have a gun! Well, I'm not coming over to your house if you have a gun there!" My response to her was, "Gloria, I don't have a gun at my house. I have 17 guns, and you've never been invited to my house!"

Well, DUHH!! What's the first thing you see when you look through the scope?!
Positively brilliant!!!!
I think it's a mutation. On which side, I leave up to you.
It's not just a mutation... It's evolution! That's it! I'm the first fish in the school to have vestigial lungs, and I'm on my way out of the shallows to try land! Pretty soon I'll have a digital watch! lol

That’s it ADL, attack a guy who actually supports Israel for shaming a group that doesn’t. You really do need to buy a clue.
As usual, when Rush turns the lights on, the roaches scatter.
hogwash, this is just an attention prostitute trying to stop Republican inertia.
I heard it too and I agree with you. Didn't you "know" that someone was going to pull this. I'm to the point where I can predict 100% when his words will be twisted. He's smarter than me so he must also know it. I can only conclude that he does it intentionally to stir up the reds.
Immaterial. Abe Foxman and the ADL aren't about Israel. Or even Jews.
They're about liberalism.
Some people just don’t want ANY friends.
Ridiculous!
This article is written in code. You have to chug a gallon of Kool-Aid and then it will seem to make sense.
Yes- Abe & ADL specialize in using inflamed rhetoric to shake contributions out of members- it's merely rabble-rousing.
( And for the record, no fewer than four different Rabbis at the local Synagogue have proclaimed me an "Honory Jew" for the years I spent with them in their choir. I know anti-Jewish rantings better than most, and Rush doesn't fit it. )
When I heard him say it I thought, “Oh my gosh, he’s in for it now”. He was promoting a book in which the author, who is Jewish, says, I guess, the same things and a lot more.
