New Orleans Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao supported President Barack Obama more often than any of his fellow House Republicans in 2009.
The statistic isn't surprising given that Cao, who defeated embattled incumbent Rep. William Jefferson in December 2008, represents one of the nation's most heavily Democratic districts and faces a strong challenge as he seeks a second term this fall.
According to a report by Congressional Quarterly, Cao supported Obama's position 68 percent of the time last year, including casting the only GOP vote for the Democrats' health-care legislation. On average, House Republicans supported the president only 26 percent of the time in 2009.
Cao also took a different position than fellow Republicans on 37 percent of the 502 roll call votes examined by Congressional Quarterly, the lowest "party loyalty" ranking among the 178 House GOP members.

You should vote for him only if you lived in what is essentially a moribound ghetto with dangerous neighborhoods, rampant truancy and drug abuse and high crime. Then you should vote for him, he would be the best you could ever get.
Rinos only have value when the Republicans are in control. THen they can be dragged kicking and screaming to make the right choices. When the Dems are in control the RINOs will vote the wrong way almost all of the time.
I can’t wait until the Republicans take back the house and kick San Fran Nan down to minority status and prevent her from attending meetings and closed-door sessions of the leadership.
Unless you live in his district you aren’t voting for him. If you do live in his district do as you please. But I think you are wrong to want a Democrat just because he is the devil you know, because according to what you have said you know how Cao votes, so what’s the difference? Obviously I have laid out my opinion.
I just believe you put the true conservatives up where they should and could win and you let the Browns and Cao’s win where they can.
The voters in his district will take care of that this fall.
He needs to go.
I would prefer a liberal R who is willing to vote for a conservative to be speaker than a conservative D who is willing to keep Nancy Pelosi.
Exactly, you have to play with the hand you’re dealt.
While I am not pleased with Cao’s position, it appears that he is the rare politician that is doing what they all should be doing ... REPRESENTING the majority opinion of his district. It is the politicians that go to DC and ignore the will of their constituents while bowing to their party leadership that need to be turned out.
Brown has some serious star quality. It really depends on how he acts the next three years and, most importantly, how he responds to the the attacks that will be coming.
You shouldn't, unless you live in the District.
Is he RINO or Viet Cong? Sheesh!
Why not have someone who WON’T stab us in the back on HCR? About the only difference between Cao and Jefferson was 90K in the freezer. And as long as the RNC supports guys like this, Scozzafava, et al, they won’t get my support.
helluva dumbass for a Viet
I honestly think that some people don't bother to think.
I don’t see why people are complaining about Cao. He is pro-life and BY FAR the best guy you’re ever going to have in that district.
This is Nawlins we’re talking about here.
Enjoy him while he lasts if you like him. He was the sole GOP quisling on HealthControl, but he will vanish quickly in NOLA politics.
I agree, although the argument is more persuasive when applied to a Senator.
