SALT LAKE CITY State Senate Majority Leader Sheldon Killpack resigned from office Saturday, a day after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Syracuse Republican said in a statement he decided to quit after discussing his options with his family and friends. "My heart weighs heavy. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the legislative process, my legislative colleagues and for my constituents," said Killpack, 41. "At this time, the Legislature would be a distraction from what is most important and, frankly, I find that I have become a distraction to the Legislature. In light of that, I have decided to tender my resignation ... effective immediately."

I’ll bet you he paid his taxes.
Such restraint. They waited to the second sentence to disclose his political affiliation.
When will the Rs learn that this sort of thing doesn’t end the careers of Ds?
Heh, another example of the stark difference between a Republican and a scumbag.
Scumbags NEVER resign in shame because they have none.
A commieRat would have just checked himself into “rehab” for a couple of days and then went back to his office as if nothing happened. They do it all the time.
On DU they’ll post his PIC with the caption Teabagger.
He does look stoned, how did he find his way home, oh wait, he didn’t.
How many DUI’s does Patrick Kennedy have? He’s still serving in the US House of Reprsenatives despite causing crashes while high/drunk.
The GOP has class. Too bad that’s all it has, sometimes.
Killpack has no Camelot.
You’re right on...another double standard
Party affiliation mentioned in the second sentence. Only happens when it’s a Republican.
so for this charge he quits and yet the Dems think of this as got ya meanwhile they don’t pay taxes, praise mass killers like Mao, have bribe money in their freezer, etc, the list is too long to mention.
Kennedy kills, another crashes into buildings while under,
when will the GOP wake the hell up?
he made a mistake hardly a step down

Hey casewase, I bet if you dig up Ted Kennedy, his B.A.C. is still over the legal limit.
This is a stand-up thing to do under the circumstances.
A liberal would have claimed the DUI as a virtual badge of honor, insisting it only shows how much he shared with “the little people” of his district.
Way to go drunk!
Alcohol in Utah?
LOL!
IIRC, his father was killed by a drunk driver and he had led pushes on drunk-driving legislation. Also, he allegedly refused a breathalyzer, which should be an automatic 1-year license suspension. Let’s see what happens, regardless of how the lab’s blood work comes back...will he get off without the suspension?
For drunk driving?
Hey, can anyone tell me if William Jefferson(D) Louisiana has resigned yet, now that he’s in jail? Or is he still hanging on to his seat?
