What Do Sarah Palin and Jesus Christ Have In Common? (Whose side is Red State on, anyway?)
Red State ^ | 14 Jan 2010 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 01/14/2010 1:16:30 PM PST by GOP_Raider

I don’t know what it is about Sarah Palin that sets people off, but there is very little in between. The reaction people have to Sarah Palin is very much the reaction many people have to Jesus — both offend and disgust the secular values of some and with others failing to embrace either sends you straight to hell. Judging by my conversation with Governor Palin a few weeks ago when I asked her why the left has more compassion for Al Qaeda than for conservative women and minorities, I think she gets it and finds some humor in it.

--snip--

I understand that a great many of Palin’s supporters, myself included, have felt on the defensive for a while. The media genuinely hates this woman. The left is more revolted by Palin than they ever were by Bush.

I get that.

But I also get that there are Republicans who like — even love — Sarah Palin who think some of her handlers might not give her the best of advice or think she should or should not do one thing or another. And i’m finding, both from personal experience and the experience of friends, that when those points are brought up, the person raising the point is often inappropriately attacked as a Palin hater.

You're half right. I accused you of being a stalker. I really am not sure if you are or not. But you are a harasser and a bully.

Of course you are not sure, because you believed the anti-freepers and supported them.

It's all there in black and white.

If you are "not sure" a person is a stalker, it's a good idea not to accuse them of it.

LOL at a harasser and a bully!

Attacked by you and your afer friends, who did the bullying???

OK. Stop right there. I expressed support for you as a victim of what I felt was an unfair attack from CP. You responded by lying about me and then saying that you didn't wish to discuss it.

No, it wasn't a lie when I said the person you were all ga-ga about was an anti freeper.

I told you that a Free Republic event isn't the place to gush your support for afers.

You're a pathological liar.

Obvious projection.

You have reasons to lie, I don't.

The truth works fine for me.

You only get away with it because you're supported by cowards.

I had no support. (The cowards were your friends)

It was just me and then you and your friends sniping at me and crashing and burning. While you tried to prop them up.

I didn't come after you. You came after me. Stay away from me.

Wow, that's just what your friends said! And you are still buying it.

And you let your false accusation just hang there.

Don't expect to keep maligning free republic posters that support Palin and not get called on it.

As you can see, it doesn't go over too well here.

I’m strong on Giuliani and Romney? ROFL! Give me a break. If either of those two guys runs in 2012, I’m going to throw up.

Sorry, dude. Back to page one with you.

Your posting history reveals pro Giuliani, pro Romney posting and a mass of antiPalin posting.

You have tried to have the moderators shut down a 200 plus thread on homosexuals and children. You dis social conservatism and it is clear that your big bugaboo is fear of an actual conservative becoming president.

One of the things that's made me reluctant to embrace Palin is the absurd level of praise she gets--it reminds me of the Obamoids--no matter what she does, even if she's attacked. People defend her, and they get so personally involved emotionally that it's like they're defending someone they know personally.

Lately I've started coming around to her as a potential presidential candidate, though the FOX thing convinces me once and for all she will not be running for president but instead will be a kind of shadow-president, or king-maker. But whenever I get comfortable with her, the outpouring of "She's perfect, stop asking questions!" stuff makes me withdraw.

Not that that matters anymore, since I'm convinced she won't be running for anything. Which leaves us with Romney? Ugh.

“But she is NO Jesus, she merely reflects aspects of Jesus in a dark, Christless culture and the light can be blinding and overwhelming.”

Well stated.

I’ve been praying that Obama would convert.

Look. . .I did not like John McCain for a lot of reasons - his noxious, RINO schmoozing with Demrats for starters. Would have much preferred; at that point, for Mitt to have been the Primary winner. No not perfect; but again; far less the RINO than McCain. Did not suck my thumb or sit on my hands or abandon the Party when it did not turn out 'my way'.

Had to move beyond the worst of McCain to his good side; which was, he is a committed 'American'; patriotic/altruistic. . .he would do his best to assure National Security - et al, 'yada'. Reluctantly supported McCain but was not excited at all - until, Sarah Palin joined ticket. Only then, was I able to put McCain sticker on my car. Was thrilled by her convictions and her optimism and wanted this to be America's 'winner'.

Can only say, if we have a 'D' next to name of winning candidate in 2012; and it is because Conservatives sat on their hands because Sarah did not run; or because the Repub candidate not PERFECT. enough; then Obama; if he has not already done so; can hang the 'CLOSED' sign up on America's door. All to say. . .

. . .when I hear people say; for them; it is Palin or the highway; believe they only help the cause of those, who have demonstrated no more clearly than by this past year, that they want America as we know it; to end.

One more add here: Hearing your 'voice'; do hear a 'familiar' intolerant tone that more closely resonates with those intolerant voices of our viral opposition. Sad. ..IMHO.

Sarah makes my heart sing! I remember the morning we learned that she was the VP nominee. Was watching Fox, and we had just been told the night before that Timmy P was to be the VP nominee. Campaign Carl comes on in the AM and says there is buzz about Sarah from Alaska, he says all we have to go on is that a small plane landed here late last night, and that the flight originated in Alaska. All sorts of ups and downs, PMSNBC reporting, NO HOLD THE PHONE, Sarah is home in Alaska...LOL, Later Carl wonders, how do they know that, did they speak to her? Turns out it was only 4 AM in Alaska time, Carl phones and finds out they actually have no idea where Sarah is. So PMSNBC etc still reporting that Sarah is in Alaska, but Carl says no, things are still pointing to Sarah from Alaska. Carl finds that the small plane is registered to a top McCain donor, then a little later he discovers the plane left Alaska and flew straight to Flagstaff Arizona and then to here. Meanwhile the jokers at MSNBC are still reporting that Sarah is in Alaska. Finally Carl gives us the GLORIOUS news that indeed McCain has picked Sarah from Alaska to be his running mate, what a day that was....Thank You Jesus for Sarah!!!

I agree, and i would just like to say that there are so many people out there who do not know the meaning of conservatism.

And thats because the republicans as well as the democrats are hell bent on making this a police state, you can not do anything with out the fear of getting a fine for something.

The big man in the blue uniform looks down his nose at you and just as well say ( I am better than you )

The point is that most people are not by nature prone to following a well organized life, and that is seen in the young even more so.

Can you expect a young boy or girl never to do anything wrong unless they have been brainwashed beyond recovery?

I can not stand brain washed people myself, but the point is that its these little things, that turns young people against conservatism.

They can not do anything without being in trouble if they have a mind of thier own, and if they don,t why even be here.

The laws that we live by was meant to be based on common sense, but they have been turned in to a way for the different goverments to collect money, nothing but extortion.

If the goverment was really interested in peace and safty would,nt they be more interested in seeing that the law enforcement officers just used common sense instead of just being tax collectors?

Not to mention the laws that are just for the purpose of control of your liberty.

The things mentioned above are what every one is introduced to at a young age, and most of them are done in the name of conservatism, these stupid laws and the enforcement of them are done with the blessings of both the so called conservatives as well as the liberals.

Young people gets into this liberal crap because they have too much time on thier hands and since some of it seems to be fun, they take it instead of what they perceive to be conservatism.

True conservatism is to preserve, why not put freedom at the top of the list, but the socalled conservatives are also inclined to make laws against other peoples freedoms, and thats what these young people are first exposed to, or was up until not many years ago.

Another point, years ago i knew a preacher who whiped the hell out of his son everytime the son did not walk the line,

Do you think the son turned out to be a christian? no.

After saying that, i will say that liberalism is of satan and is evil.

I’m anti-stupidity. Good bye.

Your posting history repeatedly sees you claiming that conservatism, especially social conservatism is stupid and that we need to become more liberal to win elections, hence your attraction to people like Giuliani and Romney, and your intense, dislike for a Governor Palin.

You would have hated the pre 1960s America, man, social conservatism was the rule until the left broke down the barriers, all hail the left and Earl Warren, and the end of American culture and traditions, now even Christianity is disappearing from our prayer free schools and nation.
