Missouri Sovereignty Rally Rocks Capital Rotunda
Eyewitness reporting | January 13th, 2010 | Philip Todd

Posted on 01/13/2010 2:33:47 PM PST by o_zarkman44

Jefferson City, Missouri 01-13-2010

"Today, January 13th, 2010 is the start of the new revolution. What year is it? 2010, a perfect time to reaffirm our 10th Amendment State Sovereignty", proclaimed State Representative Brian Nieves to the reverberating cheer of a standing room only crowd. Consisting of hundreds of citizens packed into the State Capital Rotunda, the Show Me State Sovereignty Rally in Jefferson City was a day of grass roots activism in the State Capital Building.

The rally, organized by the Missouri Sovereignty Project, Tea Party Patriots, Concerned Women of America, and the Eagle Forum is a continuation of citizen involvement and educational opportunities that empower people by teaching the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Citizens turned activists circulated sovereignty support cards to our State Senators and Representatives throughout the capital seeking further legislative support of Senate Joint Resolution No. 25 and House Joint Resolution No. 57

The resolutions will submit to the voters of Missouri a Constitutional Amendment that in part states :Section 85 1. A law or rule shall not force, directly or indirectly any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system. 2. A person or employer may pay directly for lawful health care services and shall not be required to pay penalties or fines for paying directly for lawful health care services. Lines 15-24 To preserve the freedom of citizens of this state to provide for their health care, no law or rule shall compel directly or indirectly or through penalties or fines any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system.

In essence, these Joint Resolutions are telling the Federal Government that they will not compel Missouri citizens to participate in any health care programs as a matter of free choice. These Joint Resolutions have the support of over 30 State Senators and 74 State Representatives, many of who stood to thunderous applause on the stage in support of Sen. Jane Cunningham, Rep Tim Jones, Sen Jim Lambke, and Rep. Brian Nieves who have introduced the resolutions.

Citizens and participants were also directed to sign a petition limiting Eminent Domain abuses. Then participants were encouraged to attend workshops By Dave Roland, Show Me Institute "An Arsenal for Liberty, State and Federal Constitutional Protections for Health Care Reform". A workshop was conducted by Paul Curtman on "Constitutional Principles of State Sovereignty" and a third workshop by Kerry Messer, Missouri Family Network on "Communicating Effectively in a Political Windstorm". Each workshop was standing room only, demonstrating the resolve of Missouri citizens that we will stand up against constitutional abuses by the rogue Federal Government.

I bet poor Jay Nixon called Obummer right away and told him that he better send his Brown Shirts to Missouri right away.

Did Jane Cunningham mention Obummer

Jane is a good state Rep.....

Hubby and I also attended the rally. It was great! Enthusiasm was high and the turnout was much larger than organizers had expected. In addition to all chairs in the rotunda filled, people stood two-or-three deep around the edges.

We enjoyed it and were energized and motivated to stay informed - and stay on top of our Reps and Senators to get all three items passed and to the Missouri citizens this year.

Thanks for the report, ozarkman! Looking forward to working together again in the future.

I hope this passes! By this time next year my family and I should be residents of the Ozarks.

I have been a member of Concerned women of America, and have adhered loyally to Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum message for over 30 years. How wonderful it would be if this movement could influence the state of Washington. I hate to think what that august gentleman would do should he see how liberal his namesake state has become.

Good for Missouri!

Great news! I don’t believe Obama actually “won” Missouri in 2008. BTW, love the area around Branson!

Thanks for the correction. I remembered they stole Indiana, had a recollection that the same had happened to Missouri.

When do they vote session? Will they wait til Texas goes out first? If health Care passes it might be Bonny Blue Flag time.

I have heard some talk recently, including today about many people immigrating to Texas if they do the secession.
I think we are going to stand our ground here in Missouri.
That's why we are known as a Bellwether state But I have no doubt about standing with Texas should it become necessary.
