EDITORIAL: Menacing turn in Black Panther case--The Justice Department asserts tyrannical privileges
The Washington Times ^ | January 13, 2010 | Editorial

The Justice Department told the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to drop dead yesterday. The growing controversy is over a voter-intimidation case involving the radical New Black Panther Party and why Justice is carrying water for the villains. The department's intransigence should frighten Congress because Justice is asserting broad privileges that undermine congressional authority to oversee government's executive branch.

That's why the timing is propitious today for the House Judiciary Committee to consider, and approve, a resolution of inquiry introduced by Rep. Frank Wolf, Virginia Republican. The Wolf resolution would direct Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to "transmit to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of adoption of this resolution, copies of any document, memo or correspondence of the Department of Justice with regard to United States v. New Black Panther Party."

Democrats tempted to kill this resolution today on a party-line vote should understand that they would be setting a precedent with ramifications far beyond this case. The constitutional balance of powers would be fundamentally shifted away from Congress to an unaccountable executive, and future corruption easily could go unchecked.

The Commission on Civil Rights, acting according to explicit statutory authority to subpoena executive departments, demanded that Justice answer 49 detailed questions, with accompanying document requests. In yesterday's response, the department wrote that on the basis of seven distinct claimed "privileges," it objects "to each and every Interrogatory and Document Request."...

The Holder run Just-us Department is above Congressional oversight and resents inquiries into voter intimidation in the 2008 election which elected Omama.

Given the way things are going, that'll be high-caliber noise.

Well I hope not but the tinder seems to be in place...

Maybe there should be a protest with hundreds of people dressed like that black panther carrying the knight stick.

Let's hope that the Dems realize the implications of letting Holder, et al, go unchecked.

When your pit bull is threatening neighbors and not your immediate family, it's easier to tolerate. Once your neighbor adopts it, and it's threatening you and your family, well...

The DOJ and Holder were clear enough why the charges were dropped. It is simply their intent not to prosecute such crimes done by goons acting the way they want them to act.

In other words, the current leadership at DOJ (in concert with their masters in the White House) wishes not to be held accountable or constrained by US laws when such laws run contrary to their intentions. Their responses sugar-coat their naked desire, a most menacing form of government from which many hundreds of thousands of our soldiers over many generations died to save us.

Now, ignorant, self-destructive voters have brought upon us that which previously was held back only by the great sacrifices of those who bled and died on our behalf.

This, folks, is rank tyranny!

Where are Sharpton and Jackson — they are always blowing off about voter rights and voter intimidation. Where are they now? [sic]

No reason to drag this situation out, unless it is to purposelly violate our laws.

Whatever in the world could make you think that they are purposefully disregarding the law?

Sanctuary Cities?
Legalizing Assisted Suicide?
Terrorists tried in Criminal Court?
50 people in the White House with unpaid taxes?
A convicted Felon writing Health Care Bill?
Legalizing Pot, in disregard of federal Statute?

Silly you.

The GOP should be all over this and not let up at all.

Add one more to your list. Only 8% of those appointed by the President have any business experience and yet they are attempting to tell us how to run this country.

Then future corruption could go unchecked along with current corruption that goes unchecked.

Currently, I believe it is illegal to carry firearms in polling places. However, I believe this “law” to violate the Constitution.

I think if nothing else, allowing the BPP to use weapons to intimidate voters provides a legal justification for voters to arm themselves for self-defense purposes. It would make a great court case because if the government refuses to enforce the law and protect the people then the people have a Constitutional right to protect themselves, even when voting.

For a Speaker that vowed to clean up the House I’d hate to see how bad corruption would be if she hadn’t, but then it couldn’t be much worse than it is now.

She and the other Rats couldn’t be much more blatant about not giving a damn.

I don’t know about all states but there are some that make no distinction between a nightstick and firearm in regards to it being a weapon.

“I don’t know about all states but there are some that make no distinction between a nightstick and firearm in regards to it being a weapon.”

Here in CA, you are better off carrying a firearm. Carrying a firearm without a permit is generally a misdemeanor (with some exceptions)(PC 12021) Carrying a nightstick, billyclub, etc. is a felony. (PC 12020)

Personally, I think we need to provide a service escorting people to polling places if this crap comes up again.

Zimbabwe News This Week

Saturday 14th November 2009 Dear Family and Friends,
If you think things are back to normal in Zimbabwe, just walk into a bank. Its something I haven't done for many months and flipping through my last cheque book reminded me of the mayhem of our banks less than a year ago. My cheque stubbs look like something from a crazy kindergarten. There's a payment for a telephone bill of four hundred million dollars, another to a dentist for forty one billion dollars. There's a deposit of four trillion, six hundred billion dollars and another page showing a balance on hand of fourteen trillion dollars. One page is slashed through in red ink with the words : "NB: Aug 08: 10 zeroes removed by Gono." And then, in October 2008, also in red ink on a cheque stubb are the words: "Can't get in bank, queues of thousands."

It seems like a lifetime ago but in fact its just a year ago that this was happening and now of course Zimbabwe doesn't even have its own currency - thanks to Zanu PF and Reserve Bank Governor Mr Gono. Zimbabwe's much talked about sovereignty is long gone when it comes to the economy and now we buy and sell in US dollars and South African Rand.
