Harry Reid’s egregiously inappropriate comment from the 2008 campaign that Obama is ”a light-skinned” African-American who “lacked a Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” is causing quite a stir. But let’s be clear: had any Republican said it, he or she would be chased from office by Monday. But Harry Reid is no Trent Lott and the standards are different for Democrats. (John McCormack points out that even Obama had a different standard in 2002.) In this case, Obama is trying to snuff out the controversy, declaring:
"Harry Reid called me today and apologized for an unfortunate comment reported today. I accepted Harry’s apology without question because I’ve known him for years, I’ve seen the passionate leadership he’s shown on issues of social justice and I know what’s in his heart. As far as I am concerned, the book is closed."

Sounds about right to me, unless by “African-American” Reid was implying Obama was born in Kenya, ...even then there maybe some truth...

The media template is simple. Republicans are known to be white racists, so if a Republican said it the intent was malice. Democrats on the other hand are tolerant and compassionate people so there could never possibly me malice in their intent, even the times when they say “stupid” things like this. Democrats are thus exempt from criticism.
Expect the Just Brothers to make some token noise. It will be mild and it will fade very quickly. By Wednesday the incident will be forgotten.
Because,
the Dems usually circle the wagons with the person of question on the inside;
the Pubbies usually circle the wagon the person of question on the outside.

That is a stupid question. Reid said something nasty about then Senator Obama so of course he gets to accept the apology or not. President Obama has forgiven Reid (and some people say Obama is not Christian....:)
Remember Hillary’s attempted ‘accent’ when she was in Selma (IIRC).
And her ‘plantation’ remark, which was spoken with that same fake accent.
In Newspeak, saying that which is true is “nasty” and requires apology and forgiveness.
Other than his use of the politically incorrect word “Negro”, what Reid said was true.
Look at how Clarence Thomas was treated by the liberals. I think his oratory skills are much better than Obama’s. His voice is a rich baritone and he has something to say when he speaks. Obama delivers empty speeches and the liberals can't get enough.
Reid needs to find forgiveness with dark skinned blacks with more pronounced dialects, not Obama. He was basically saying Obama was more acceptable than other black men.
Because if Ole Dingy gets booted to the curb by the citizens of Nevada Obamacare goes down the tubes.
DUH!
At least Biden thought he was clean.
The liberal defense of reid’s comments and obama’s hypocrisy will be that any one that speaks out against this is just putting politics before country.
