WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama signaled to House Democratic leaders Wednesday that they'll have to drop their opposition to taxing high-end health insurance plans to pay for health coverage for millions of uninsured Americans.

In a meeting at the White House, Obama expressed his preference for the insurance tax contained in the Senate's health overhaul bill, but largely opposed by House Democrats and organized labor, Democratic aides said. The aides spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was private.

Annual premiums greater than $8000 for individuals and $21,000 for families.

For the time being. Expect the levels to drop significantly.

“So the govt is going to require us to buy health insurance and then tax it..”

They’ll force you to buy insurance, but not the “good” kind. Nope, just the “okay” kind and if you want anything better, boy, you’re gonna get soaked for it.

The equal distribution of mediocrity by government writ, you see, is socialism.

Do “high end health plans” involve head health issues, or do they involve posterior health issues?

The rush is on. They feel they need to get this passed before January 19, which is when they are at considerable risk of losing the MA Senate election.

If this waits until after that date, and if Brown (R) wins, then it will be very, very, very hard to pass.

I predict that if this happens at all, it will be a done deal by about the 16th.

RE: “how many people have a 21,000 dollar plan? My bet is 1%”

****************

Probably a higher percentage than that. My own private individual plan just for myself is over $6,000 per year now and climbing. It’s lousy coverage that I pay for myself and is so expensive due to being highly rated for a few silly meds I take and a history of back pain.

It doesn’t take much to get rated or even rejected now — a neighbor’s daughter gets a cold sore on her lip about once per year and the med she uses is Valtrex or similar. She is 25 years old and was rejected outright by Blue Cross of CA due to the expensive ointment. RIDICULOUS.

“High-end health insurance plan” is new-speak for “Cadillac” health insurance plan, which pisses off the Unions to no end!

Unions Slam Proposed “Cadillac” Health Care Tax
CBS News, Dec. 8, 2009

From the CWA and affiliated unions Report:
(Federal Workers’ Most Popular Health Plan Will Be Hit Hard by Senate Excise Tax)

The excise tax would likely hit the family plan slowly at first — costing $114 per worker in 2015 — but by 2022 plan premiums would exceed the threshold by almost $14,000 if benefits are not cut. At a 40% excise tax rate, that’s a tax burden of approximately $5,500 per worker in that year alone. For single plans, a $211 tax burden in 2013 will balloon into a nearly $3,500 per worker tax by 2022.

The middle class is white, and Black Nationalist Obama from Kenya planned to tax them mercilessly all along.

Only deluded fools didn't see this coming.

Read the tagline.

Congress isn’t coming back until mid-month, so we are likely safe on that aspect. My worry is that the RATS in Massachusetts will refuse to certify Brown’s election should he win.

How can the unions, as corrupt and unethical as they can be, but instrumental in voting in the Kenyan, take this as anything but a slap in the face?

BINGO. The Unions are pissed over this! ALL Libs are pissed on this one.

Obama will try to sell it as "everyone will have to make sacrifices."

However — and this may sound shocking — Obama and the Dems should not expect much support from the Unions in the November elections over this one point.

America better wake up before it’s too late. These situations become dangerous when a “man” becomes fixated like a dog on a bone. Because once there is no pack to oppose them and they start attacking, they do not let go.

First, that’s the floor now. You know how this goes. Cadillac plans are taxed today. Hyundai plans get taxed tomorrow.

Second, it won’t be indexed to inflation, so even if they weren’t being deceitful on purpose, bracket creep would do the job.

“high-end health plans” = the health plans that all of us non-parasites are going to need so we don’t have to wait in line for Mengelecare with the Democrat medicaid crowd. In other words, bend over and grease up - - here comes Ubama and the Democrats, and they got raging, lustful (tax) dollar signs in their eyes.
