2010 Presidential Dollar Designs
US Mint | 01/06/2010 | Raybob

Posted on 01/06/2010 7:17:17 AM PST by RayBob

The United States is honoring our Nation's Presidents by issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order that they served in office. The United States Mint issues four Presidential $1 Coins each year, with Presidents Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan, and Lincoln being honored in 2010. Each coin has a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. These coins feature large, dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year of minting, or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. In 2009 "In God We Trust" was moved from the edge to the face of the coin. The size, weight and metal composition of the Presidential $1 Coins are identical to that of the Sacagawea Golden Dollar and the Native American $1 Coins. Learn more about the Presidential $1 Coin's design features.

Release Schedule

Fillmore - February Pierce - May Buchanan - August Lincoln - November

Poor Buchanan: about to be toppled from his perch as the worst president ever.

I like ‘em! I use dollar coins as much as possible. Dollar bills are filthy. And they stink from some kinda stuff that gets sprayed on ‘em.

There are two versions of each one. One from Philadelphia and one from Denver. I have been getting them since they first came out.

And let me guess. Barry O’s coin will be released in 2012. (Subtle campaign advertising of course)

Isn’t there a law that prevents coinage of living people?

For the presidential dollars, the president has to have been dead for at least two years before the dollar can be released.

Hell, son, Carter bumped him from that over 30 years ago... and for that matter, so did LBJ.
