The Three Stooges can NEVER be recreated. I wish they would quit trying. The attempt a few years back with what’s-his-name from The Commish as Curly was just awful.

This isn’t a remake. It’s an original biopic of the Stooges career.

Growing up, I loved the Stooges, but what made them work was the individual talents of the actors. The reason a few old shows survive forever is because of the individual talent of one of the actors, not because of any genius in concept or writing. The Stooges was three incompetent guys trying to do different things and getting in trouble.
When they tried to remake the Beverly Hillbillies, they couldn't find anyone who could emulate the characters of Jed, Granny or Jane Hathaway like the original actors. If they tried to redo the Munsters, they'd never find another Fred Gwynne or Al Lewis. Some actors create a character that no one else could play. Barney Fife, Fred Mertz, and Ed Norton were signature characters of specific actors. They can't be replicated.
While I wouldn't see a movie with Sean Penn in it anyway, there's no point in seeing a Three Stooges movie when Jerome Horwitz was the engine that made the original run, and he's been dead for over half a century.

Love the Stooges. Won’t go near anything with Penn in it.

No way I would watch a remake of the Three Stooges even if it was for free. No one can replace those guys and do a good job at it . They are ingrained into the brain synapses.

Will “Niagara Falls” still be the trigger word or will it be “Rush Limbaugh”?
