This is the second time Savicki has sued over reproductive issues. In 2001, she reached a settlement with CVS and a spermacide company after she became pregnant with her now 12-year-old daughter after claiming she bought and used an expired spermacide, according to federal court documents.
Savicki has nine children from several men, is unemployed and relies on public assistance for two of the four children who live with her. She receives supplemental security income, or SSI, for a disability, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, she said. Her mother has custody of three of her children. Two of her children are no longer minors.
Its my choice
Savicki acknowledged that some may feel little sympathy for her situation, but cautioned against public judgment because she is a poor, unmarried mother of 9.
I would never have the right to tell anyone else because you have this many kids thats enough, she said. Thats no ones right to say that. Its my choice. No one has the right to say youve had enough.
I take care of my kids. I love my kids. I was not ready to make that kind of decision, she said of the permanent sterilization.
Savicki said her life has stabilized in the last decade after a rocky start. She had her first child at 13 and dropped out of high school in the ninth grade.
Savicki said shes been in a relationship with her fiance, Angel Flores Tirado, 36, since she was 25. She lives with him and the couples three children. Tirado helps support the family with his full-time job as a personal care assistant. Savicki said shes had eight of her nine children while in committed relationships and hoped for one more child with Tirado.
Its not like Im jumping from guy to guy to guy to get pregnant, she said. Im trying to make a healthy home for my children.
9 is too young to be a mother anyway.
Why the Hell am I expected to help raise her kids?
It’s too bad her mother didnt have a tubal ligation.
There’s nothing wrong with having 9 kids in a healthy marriage! :)
But this woman obviously has mental problems. To top it all off she has a hereditary disease.
She’s an idiot, no doubt, but idiot or not, forcing sterilization on someone is evil....
Obamacare has begun.
I like “God works in mysterious ways.”
This is troubling.
Yes, this woman is the extreme example and logically should have been dealt with...
but if the courts or social services or whoever can do this to loonies it can do it to ANYBODY.
Not exactly, sister. If my taxes pay for your SSI and welfare, I think I should get a say in how you conduct yourself.
If she has a right to the product of my work then I have a right to her tubes.
What? Promiscuity? The hereditary pattern of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma has not been established.
This one want a lawsuit. I doubt if they did actually sterilize her against her will.
The government check of our money only enables her life.
Yeah, statist, have my tax money enforce tubal ligations....
Three generations of imbelices is enough.
People like this can only breed in a social welfare state.
Furthermore, this is an ex parte representation. I strongly suspect that documents will show she consented to the ligation and now has buyer’s remorse. I also doubt she used the spermacide as directed in the previous case, besides failure of any method of contraception, it would seem to me, is “buyer’s risk”. She’s just hoping for another pay off from an insurance company not eager to face a jury of her peers in this benighted Commonwealth.
They just need a teensy bit more for which a lawsuit settlement will help.
And these companies need to stop settling these frivolous lawsuits. Her first with CVS, she used (if, in fact, she really did use it) an expired spermicide. She's playin' the system like a fiddle.
Therefore she certainly realizes that taking responsibility also means no longer accepting govt payments.
Reproductive rights have nothing to do with this.
This woman is mentally ill.
Let me be clear, any government coercion of individuals regarding sterilization is evil.
Now, is there more to her story? Probably, but there's nothing in the story as written to indicate whether she's lying or not.
The greater evil is not the government giving this idiot money to take care of her children, the greater evil is the government using taxpayer money to enforce sterilization. If they can do that to her, they can do it to you....
