Having respect for a great deal of the diverse and well-informed opinions found on FR regarding political matters, I am curious to know your thoughts about the following, which, for me, is distilling out as a key question.
The undercurrents in the chronic tension between the Left and Right in this country are growing ever more ominous recently.
On one side, there is open talk of rebellion, drastic civil disobedience, armed revolution and civil war. Once confined to a few odd websites, is now plentiful all over the internet. And if I am not mistaken, this on-line sample represents the mere tip of an iceberg of enormous proportions in our general off-line population as well.
This is then complimented and fed by such Left-leaning news as the suspension of the Posse Comitatus Act, diplomatic immunity for Interpol, and the wholesale assault on such Constitutional and founding principles as checks and balances, limited government with enunciated powers, sovereignty, capitalism, and the individual God-given liberties enshrined in the Bill of Rights.
My question is: What is going on in the minds of those on the Left, especially the national and global power brokers behind the Left, that they persist in pushing their agenda so forcefully despite where this looks likely to end?
I find it hard to believe that they do not know where this is heading if they persist in their attempted Communist coup of this country. And yet they persist.
I find it hard to believe that they think they can get away with this without violent consequences of such enormity that no one of sound mind would risk them by persisting. And yet they persist.
I find it hard to believe that they underestimate the size and determination of the forces they are awakening as they persist. And yet they persist.
Are they really too ignorant or too blinded by their ideology to see where this is headed? Or do they see it, but cannot help themselves? Or do they see it, but believe they can prevail, and that even the bloodiest of means justify their ends?
I know many here still believe this will likely end peacefully, either through conservative political triumph, or through capitulation to tyranny on the part of a soft and apathetic citizenry. I know others will consider any violent acts personally reprehensible no matter what, and would never consider that sort of resistance. Im aware of those viewpoints, but they are not what Im looking for here.
In addition, I personally am not interested here in brief, flippant or humorous answers, though you are certainly free to do what you want.
There are many here who have given these matters a great deal of reasoned thought, or have inside knowledge about the various factors at play. Answers from people like that are what Im after.
I’ve been wondering, with the examples of non-violent revolutions around the world, why people are assuming that the next one will be violent.
The answer is.....Door #3. For socialists, ANY means is justified to accomplish their purpose. History is replete with examples, from Hitler to Pol Pot. See Bam-Bam's "mentor" and ghost writer (and puppet-string puller) Ayres.
Because they believe they can win.
Yes. Most of them congregate together in large cities and have no clue of what's going on in 90% of the land mass in this country.
Because, frankly, Americans are by their nature, an active and violent people. And non-violence does not appear to be gaining any traction: looking at the “mumurs” on the Net, the opposite appears to be the case.
Hopefully, I’m incorrect. . .
They believe that they will win and damn the results.
Examples please
No inside knowledge here. Personal observation only. I can only assume they are heady with so much power they have completely separated themselves from their constituents. This admin. is handing out perk$ at the drop of a hat and all they see is the game rather than the consequences.
The left believes that if the right resorts to violence, it validates their beliefs and gives them the ability to squash such an uprising.
Of course, in the aftermath, the country can be transformed into the socialist utopia.
History is replete with examples of the left using incitement to further their agenda.
The left believes it can win because it believes it is morally superior.
That show is still on the air? Go figure.
Anarchism, Communism, and Fascism all have the same initial goal: Destroy the system. Alinksy was blatant about this. Cloward Piven were blatant about this.
Now, some of those philosophies actually know what they hope to set up in place of the existing order. But sometimes they don't And they don't necessarily care. Anarchists have been saying "Smash the state!" for over a century. They figure that anythign is better than what we have, so let's just GO and see where we end up. Likewise, the Fascists frequently taked about Action! And they had little patience for debate. Just do it!
I believe that the modern Left is a combination of Anarchism, Communism, and Fascism. Those constituent members don't necessarily agree on what the future ought to look like, but they do all agree on the first step -- Destroy the dominant system.
Obama is part of that movement. He isn't building anything. He's destroying whatever he can.
They aren't very concerned about winning, or staying on top when it's all over. They are here to destroy as much of western civilization as possible. And they are moving fast.
Eastern Europe. Former SSR’s and Soviet Bloc states.
On a spiritual realm, Satan's plan is that more people - potential children in God's kingdom - will be eliminated before they mature.
The question you asked about the left is the same question I grew up asking about why Satan will attack God in the end time. He can't win. Surely, he knows he can't win, but still he does it. He can't help himself.
I’ve been wrestling for a long time with the same questions.
But as I read your post, another possibility occurred to me.
They persist primarily to provoke violence from the right which can then be used as a political tool to strengthen their weakening ranks.
by “They”, I refer to the Obama-bots (liberal masses) and the corrupted media... who will use “ANY” form of disobedience, rebellion, or otherwise unruly behavior to paint the right as un-trustworthy and violent which then serves to discredit the substance of any argument we might present.
As for the administration, and top liberals in power, the pursuit of chaos and failure for America is the only answer. They know full well what their policies will bring, and their persistence in view of the overwhelming majority of Americans that are against them only proves that failure is their objective. For them they realize that it is a gamble... a gamble which relies upon the ultimate breakdown of morality in this country. They believe that this country’s morals have degraded to a point where the tactic of “Chaos for power” will succeed... and that is where they are wrong. They will fail, and in doing so will destroy the democratic party for decades if not indefinitely. Unfortunately, the destruction of the democratic party will not bring an end to the liberalism... which is already seeking it’s new home in the republican party... because it’s always good to hedge your bets.
The rotting areas are the counties that went for Zero. The rest went for McCain.
You sir, are correct.
We’ve become a society of either Internet warriors or video game/TV junkies. Either one does not really accomplish much. I am lumping myself into this category since apparently I’m spending the time to type a response here rather than take meaningful political (or other) action. Maybe I’m just “educating myself in preparation” as a good friend likes to say.
Also, as the government grows in size, you’re numbers of those willing to change the status quo dwindles. Biting the hand that feeds them won’t come easy.
A cushy middle class also prevents true change. Everyone talks big about what will happen and what they will do, but in reality they can’t make it past their fat couch to get out the door and talk with neighbors. No one wants to lose their blackberries, 2 cars, etc. Once the middle class is whittled down more, I think you’ll have a better opportunity for meaningful change.
Spend both cents wisely, I’m out of “change”.
