White House: Failed plane attack an attempted act of terrorism(Obama told 3 HOURS AFTER PLANE LANDS)
Washington Post ^ | December 25, 2009 | Scott Butterworth and Spencer S. Hsu

Posted on 12/25/2009 6:01:47 PM PST by Brytani

A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.

Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

Did you read my entire post?

What infuriates me is how a terrorist attack takes place on our soil, Obama isn’t told for 3+ hours yet the left went bat$shit over Bush43’s 6 minutes.

It infuriates me that this idiot is so incompetent even if he had been told he would have cried like a little girl and screwed things up.

It infuriates me that the media is covering his rear-end on this. The Post originally had this story but after it was posted on FR, they removed the 3 hour delay. Unfortunately for the Post and the Administration the delay had gone viral.

Simply put, I’m calling out those on the left who went after Bush for 6 minutes, especially Michael Moore.

I’m calling out the media for covering for an incompetent President.

I’m calling out Obama for keeping terrorism on the back-burner when our country is still a target for attack. Three attacks have taken place since he took office and he goes MIA?

having Obama micromanage our response to a terrorist situation is more dangerous than Obama sleeping in until more actionable intelligence rolls in.

We're not talking micromanage — this is the opposite thereof. We're talking not being aware of the situation for nearly 180 precious minutes. Thank goodness there was ONLY one attack and thank God it was unsuccessful.

If THIS was a ONE-TIME incident, I might agree with you. This isn't the case.

Obama’s situational awareness of the threats that face this nation is naive at best and criminally negligent at worst.

Remember Obama’s less-than-sympathetic response to the Fort Hood Terrorist attack, about which he still refuses to utter the “T” word?

How has Obama’s response with Afghanistan been?

How has Obama’s response with Iraq been?

How has Obama’s response with N. Korea been?

On that last one about N. Korea ... IF Kim Jong-il were to lob a missile and nuke Seattle or somewhere else on the west coast of the US, what do you think Obama’s response would be?

Do you think he'd respond with a nuke in kind back at North Korea? OR do you think he'd be concerned about the nuclear fallout on Japan, the international response the US would receive for it's use of nuclear weapons, or losing his Nobel Peace Prize — that Obama would SIMPLY call for UN sanctions?

Obama does not understand that there are people in the world who want to kill us.

I can MOST certainly see him issuing a direct order to the Secret Service like, “I'm sleeping — do NOT disturb me.”

Detroit is on Eastern Time not Central as some have contended.

You know, I knew that...I have no idea what I was thinking. (Actually, I do. I'm a Vikings fan...I had Chicago on my mind, despite realizing it was a flight to Dearbornistan.)

Please accept my apologies (everyone).

While I disagree with the need to wake the Executive, I do recognize what you were implying about the 3 hours, if you assume a half-hour prior to landing...and how the change in the story was made to improve the sound of things.

“celebrating Christmas” you say? Oh, like by going to church as all his predecessors have done?

I haven't seen any pictures of this. Attending church doesn't seem to be very high on zer0's to-do list. He did go last Easter and at least once to the church that GWB attended weekly.

Zer0 stalled for months on Afghanistan while fatalities were rising. The MSM while hyper critical of Pres. Bush
never reported the waffling and indecision of Zer0 during those critical months.

Where’s the MSM outrage over Zer0’s constant vacationing?
Instead the media becomes an episode of “The lives of rich and famous”.

If the WaPo has any credibility they should release a
statement concerning their retraction of the 3 hour gap and clarify this contradition.

They have now become the news story

A new flu epidemic will be created.

The flu epidemic was kept under control by the wonderful creation and application of the vaccine, haven't you heard? Just because 2 different batches of 5 million doses each have been found to be ineffective, it's still the federal government that has saved us. /s

It was on the freakin news within minutes. How in the F doesn’t the POS President not get the info for 3 hours?

Because the Dear Reader insists there is no terrorism. What was there to notify him of?

the 3 hour reference is gone from the article now.

Maybe this is why the CBS radio news has been saying "The President is receiving constant updates" (carefully not mentioning the words vacation or Hawaii). They wouldn't want the American people to think that Obama wasn't on the job. For the past 8 years, the DBM headlined the words vacation and Crawford, Texas, whenever GWB was there.

I made a suggestion about when you are about to board to use your Blackberry, cellphone, Ipod etc. to take pictures of any young middle eastern male or any looking suspicious like praying, dead fish eye stares, drunk or the such, immediately send images to a friend or organized group that will post these online.

I share your fury, and I would add that I’m outraged that he hasn’t truncated his vacation and flown to Detroit to survey and oversee the matter the way Bush was chastised for not during Katrina since he didn’t want to shut down transportation of supplies and reinfircements with the security contingent his arrival would create.

But, lol, perhaps the reason zero wasn’t informed for three hours is because the FBI and Homeland Security wanted to accomplish their preliminary review before zero got involved and put a quash on any inquiries into what his muzzie buddies are up to on our home turf.

Now this I believe. Obama notified 3 hours after, and poof the magic agitprop changes it’s tune with a phone call.

Offutt or SF/San Jose could be nuked and Obama wouldn’t hear about it until after the orgy.

Then again, maybe he has to run over to one of the other houses where ‘friends’ are staying, so he can get the teleconference with the actual people running this country going, like Axelrod, Emanuel, Soros, Jintao, Putin, so he can know what to do. Or, he calls dad somewhere on the Blackberry to ask what’s next and to see how successful the Umar guy actually was.

Even a terrorist attack isn’t going to keep Obama away from his tanning sessions on the beach. He’s been losing street cred for months.

Morning,

Maybe that's what this guy was trying to do, set off the center wing tank. It looks like that was what Reid was trying to do.

And maybe that's exactly what happened on Flight 800.

Political correctness, which is going to get many of us killed, is a worldwide phenomenon.

Digust and hatred of political correctness, is also a worldwide phenomenon.

Fellow Freepers, Lurkers, Fellow Americans, just check in with what some of the British are saying about this situation involving one of these Muslim "youths" studying in one of their universities in London, on his way to kill nearly 300 people or more in Detroit yesterday (from UK newspaper, 26 December / Online Times):

Michael Jenkins wrote: Aren't we lucky that the teaching at UCL (University College, London) is so bad that he couldn't rig his detonator correctly? Fortunately he was an engineering student and not doing interior design.

December 26, 2009 11:40 AM GMT PAUL LAMBERT wrote: Hopefully this will encourage the US to put real pressure on the UK to finally tighten up it's border controls in a meaningful way as opposed to the lip service that is currently paid. December 26, 2009 11:06 AM GMT

Nova Prosper wrote: Lets not get distracted here, the main priority the country faces, is that we don't let the Tories reinstate fox hunting. Sorting out all the terrorists residing in our universities can come second ,third or more likely never.

Darren G wrote: Another 'student' that Labour let into our country i see. No more student visas should be issued until Labour are booted from power next year.

L S.A wrote: I agree airport security in Lagos, Nigeria is little more than a joke but what about at Amsterdam where this crazy guy boarded the plane. As a young man travelling alone, he should have been profiled and double checked anyway!!!

Memosa Spring wrote: What I don't understand is that hsould I happen to have an ingrown toe nail while I'm travelling somehow the security screening picks that up! How can it not pick up what he was carrying? I know Nigeria quite well. Security there is a joke. Just give a gaurd a cheap ball point pen and they'll let you into the departure lounge with whatever you want! Give them just one USA $ and they'll give you a box of matches ot go with it! Those who know Nigerian airports- especially LAGOS will know exactly what I'm saying.

Richard Beardsley wrote: Geoff POwell: the fact that he boarded a plane somewhere else is not the issue, yes the Americans could have kept a better tab on him but how many "students" are currently exploring the UK and taking an interest in the architecture of large important buildings. How many students are not studying? What is the average attendance in class? You would do nothing to harm the UK, neither would I. However not everyone has the same ideals. The underfunded army is doing what it can but this current problem makes the Irish problem fade into insignificance.

Geoff POwell wrote: Why don't you people read the article properly. He flew from Nigeria, the fact that he's studying at a British university has no relevance here at all. US intelligence knew about him, he was flying on a US airline and he changed in Amsterdam. The UK authorities have no part in the failure to stop this guy.

Richard Beardsley wrote: I love reading the Times beacause there are things covered that are not published in Australian sites and it's good to know what is happening elsewhere. This is worrying when the average bloke can see a pattern occurring here. Student from overseas, already on a watchlist, extremely religious, why is the UK so weak in naming and shaming these groups. Have we got so bogged down in Human Rights issues that we dare not offend a minority religious group that the majority of people in the UK already know who they are. The whole backbone of what used to be British has gone. No I'm not a fanatic or bigot, just seeing how the UK is when viewed from another country. Wake up before it's too late, if it's not already."

Apparently he’s in a 7,000 sq.ft. palace in Hawaii, taking a rest from his stressful acting job, where he has to pretend to be POTUS all the time. Maybe he was in the bathroom and they couldn’t find him when they were trying to tell him about this.
