White House: Failed plane attack an attempted act of terrorism(Obama told 3 HOURS AFTER PLANE LANDS)
Washington Post ^ | December 25, 2009 | Scott Butterworth and Spencer S. Hsu

Posted on 12/25/2009 6:01:47 PM PST by Brytani

A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.

Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

I’ve been reading the blogosphere tonight on this latest Terrorist attack, and Obama's non-response to it. You and the other Obama defenders are quite active with the name calling and obfuscation here on FR, as well as on the Comments sections of the other News portals. It's NOT working, but I'm sure it won't stop you trying anyway — LOL.

In fact, from our standpoint you appear quite desperate, as well the Lefties who support Obama should be.

TWO Islamic terrorist attacks on American soil in as many months is quite an impressive Epic Fail for your president.

We will be sure to remind the American public of that fact as much as possible! Roll that in with his FAILURES on losing the Olympics for Chicago, Gitmo, Cap and Trade, the Climate Summit in Copenhagen and his eventual failure on ObamaCare, and you've got yourself one embarrassing president. Congrats!

Yes, we can see what you're doing here tonight as the old "slam, yet defend" technique for Obama. Also, good try with the "Obviously you haven't read my posts on this thread" line. Take my word for it: it ain't working either.

I think your double-time pay rate for working on a holiday expired at midnight ...

Please go hijack a thread over at the Daily KOS. I beleive you'll find the "groupthink and knee jerk responses" over there will suit you just fine.

This guy's attempt had to have been in the works well before US strikes on Yemen. They didn't design the bomb overnight, find the materials, recruit the guy, and counterfeit his documents and visas just on the spur of the moment after their leadership was attacked in Yemen.

The reason we struck Yemen is because we already knew they were up to no good there and have been for some time.

The guy involved in the June 2009 shooting of the recruiters in Arkansas had ties to Yemen. Before that, the Buffalo NY cell- which gets far less attention than it deserves- was caught and that case was chock full of Yemenis. Before that John Walker Lindh attended a school there. Before that, the USS Cole was bombed in Yemen's port city. And of course, bin Laden's family roots are in Yemen.

Of course, the libs will tell you that al Qaeda's just a "local phenomena" in Afghanistan and all our efforts should be focused there.

They’ll deny it if the question is even asked.

I did find it funny that the WaPo pulled the article within minutes of this thread going up. Given that Drudge, Huff Post, Twitter and Politico all reported it, I’m surprised they tried to cover it up.

The Post looks completely in Obama’s pocket and very foolish right now. I’m more interested in finding out why they pulled the report then I am Gibb’s trying to defend Dear Leader.

Well we know he wasn’t heading to the Dept. of Health to get his long form.

They are closed today after all.

“I am absolutely outraged - 3 hours?”

Why, it’s not like he was going to do anything about it.

(Sorry if this point has already been expressed)

It's four issues actually; none have to do with what Obama would have/could have done.

1. Why was Obama not told for 3 hours?
2. Why did the WaPo report the 3 hour delay only to redact the report after this and other sites picked it up?
3. Why did the left go nuts over Bush43 taking 6 minutes to gather his thoughts but not question a 3 hour delay?
4. How is it possible that a person on the terrorist watch list and possibly the no fly list was able to board a plane into the US while carrying explosives - Given that this happened?

It’s not the duty of the Secret Service to “inform” the President...

“As usual we wont do shit about it anyways so whats the point of even getting excited.”

Yes “we” meaning the gummit will do shiatsu about it. We will have to wait longer to board planes. We will be frisked. We will be punished while nothing changes for those who need to be profiled.

Of course, the libs will tell you that al Qaeda’s just a “local phenomena” in Afghanistan and all our efforts should be focused there.

Everytime I hear a news report that has a phrase like, “The man, who has not been publicly identified by officials...” — as had initially been reported with this failed Terrorist — it seems codeword for “Radical Islamic Terrorist.”

Just like THIS alleged "Radical Islamic Terrorist" dirtbag killer was unnamed in the first few hours of Nov. 5 with the Fort Hood "shootings."

You started a great thread! It's been a joyous day for me and my beloved 10 year old son. I remember like it was yesterday, when, while dropping my 2 year old son off at day-care, I learned slowly and almost politely, the terror that befell our country. I couldn't wait to be done with the day ( a very long one indeed) to get home and hear MY PRESIDENT...I was not disappointed at all, he stood tall just as FDR had for my Mom during the day of infamy!

I am truly sickened beyond belief that this punk in the WH, treats terrorist acts on our beloved American soil, as easily as swatting flies in the heat of a Georgia Summer night!

We will remember just as we will forget, does that makes sense?!

Exactly my point - unlike Eagle whatever who is falsely claiming I’m “upset” over Obama not doing anything.

I’m beyond mad at the incredible incompetence of this administration and the utter hypocrisy of the media when it comes to him.

There is some serious covering of rear ends over this story. In fact, I have no doubt this will become a non-story by tomorrow.

Stop the horse crap. Accusing other people of loving Obama just because they disagree with you on a time issue is asinine. You sound like a Monty Python character discussing methods of proving someone is a witch with the rest of the cast.

Eagle Eye is correct- having Obama micromanage our response to a terrorist situation is more dangerous than Obama sleeping in until more actionable intelligence rolls in. Or any president for that matter. A president is needed to order such things as retaliatory airstrikes on another country but he is not needed for interrogating a captured terrorist or babysitting air traffic control. Now if this had been a hijacking and an order would be required to shoot down the aircraft, then by all means wake up the POTUS.

You can legitimately whack the libs for their hypocrisy over the My Pet Goat thing but what makes them foolish isn't that their Pres slept in or whatever- it's that they were idiots for thinking the President could have done anything useful at that time on 9/11 in the first place, any more than Obama could have done anything useful in this incident. Slam the libs for their hypocrisy rather than joining them in it.

There has been some question if Hassan was at the White House given he took part in the transition for the administration.

I should have put a sarcasm tag up....

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.

Most Freepers have not forgotten September 11, sadly that can’t be said for most of America.
