We can remove Nebraska's star from the flag, and remove the protection of the various Federal intelligence and military branches.

Money quote (your money):

Taxpayers in every other state will forever be responsible for the expanded Medicaid program in Nebraska.

"Also, look for a huge and imminent upcoming migration of old people to Nebraska."

Here's the thing, with Nelson's deal, the people of Nebraska won't enjoy any additional benefits, but their tax exposure is somewhat mitigated, especially in comparison to the other 49 states. Nelson has effectively shifted his state's burden under the Medicare expansion, from Nebraska back to the federal government.

I can't imagine states like California - which is already staring down the barrel of a looming bankruptcy - will be too happy about their exponentially increased liabilities under this proposal. This could be the what finally pushes them to financial ruin.

Of course, that could be exactly what the Democrats intend - break the Medicare system so severely, that they'll be no choice but to scrap it and move quickly to single-payer. It's just a thought.

What happens when Congress becomes criminals against their own country?

During this ongoing overthrow of the Constitution by “Benito” Obama and his cohorts in the Congress, the silence of the United States Supreme Court has been deafening.

Will someone over there please stand up and call a halt to this madness before it's too late!

Right now I’m PO’d at my two Senators, Rockefeller and Byrd. Think what WV could have gotten if these two “elder statesmen” had held out. Not only have these two parasitic leeches screwed America, they also gave the shaft to their own state.

(I’ll let readers decide what is sarcasm and what isn’t.)

From your link:

Politico: "Pro-life group blasts Nelson compromise

The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List slammed the compromise Majority Leader Harry Reid struck with moderate Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson on restricting federal funds for abortion saying "this is not compromise ... it is a betrayal."

President Marjorie Dannenfelser's statement:

Today Ben Nelson let down Nebraska and he let down Americans who oppose government-funded elective abortion. It’s a tragedy that Senator Nelson has paved the way for legislation that departs from the status quo. If this bill passes, for the first time, federally funded and managed health care plans will cover elective abortions. Pro-life Americans in Nebraska and other states that choose to ‘opt-out’ of abortion coverage will still be forced to foot the bill for abortions in California and New York.

This is not ‘compromise’ or ‘middle ground’ – it is a betrayal of conscience for millions of Americans. And it is a betrayal of Senator Nelson’s own principles. ..."

-end snip-

It looks like Nelson traded his 'right to life' principles for some coin.

There are so many aspects of this bill being unconstitutional but now you can add one more to the mix. Are we not suppose to all be equal under the law? Yet now a Nebraskan has total different rights than anyone from another state? Odd is it not?

"Constitution? We don' need no stinkin' Constitution!"

Well, those same people are trying to buy one in Illinois...I heard they want to put a bunch of terrorists from Gitmo there...

There will still be plenty of room for a few more shlups to hang out with that crowd...

Agree with your comments 110%! Thanks for feeling like I do! If we consider not paying taxes dedicated to healthcare funding, they can just access your bank account electronically and just take it out - including penalties. I hope 2010 elections happen, but be prepared for a knock in the dead of the night!

Actually I am praying for a Godly act if he see’s fit. Like this snow storm to lock them down and paralyze the city along with the Senate.

You know...Come to think of it...

Next summer should be a hoot across the fruited plains...

Those townhall meetings, if they have the guts to have them, should be fun to just go to and watch...

They thought this last summer was bad for them???

hehehe, just wait...

I bet a bunch of them show their true colors...

Flat out bribe!!

NO OTHER WAY TO DESCRIBE IT!!!

This thing is gonna get turned on it’s ears by the Supremes, there’s no way they can just let it slide and maintain even the slightest hint of being based on the Constitution!!

If they DON’T overturn it, they simply prove that they are a complete and utter fraud, and it sounds like they fit right in with the other beltway boys!!

Does WV have a Democrat Gov? Or, do they hold special elections for mid-term open Senate seats? Byrd looks like he's being held together with duct tape and chewing gum. He could go over the rainbow, literally at any moment.

How a state that supplies almost half of the country's coal can send to Democrats to DC every year is really lost on me. Do they have no idea what cap-and-trade will do?

NEVER address any of these two-bit politicians as “Senator” or “Representative.”

They have violated their oaths of office and have turned traitor to our Country.

This entire bill IS NOT, nor will it ever be Constitutional!

It is an illegal bill and thus should not have to be repealed since it violates every precept of our Country and Constitution.

Ben Nelson was bought all right, to the tune of $2M in contributions to his last three champagnes - a boatload of money in a low campaign cost state like Nebraska - from the insurance and pharmaceutical industries.

They like this bill - with mandatory purchase of insurance, weak cost control and a three-quarter trillion dollar transfer of taxpayer money to the industry - just fine.

And don’t kid yourself that this is “Socialism” - this “State-Capitalism” on a grand scale, and Nelson one of the best investments they ever made.
