My dinner with a brainless liberal last night.

I don’t travel in liberal circles much, so last night was a real eye-opener as to how much this country is in deep doo-doo.

I went to my brother’s house (Marin County, CA) for our family’s annual Dungeness crab feast. It’s no secret in my family that my political position is hard starboard at flank speed, so out of deference to the occasion I made a personal vow not to steer the conversation to current events.

Alas, my best intentions were scuttled by my brother’s neighbor lady let slip a snarky comment about Sarah Palin not believing in global warming.

I’ve been looking for some good links on the Enron, GE, Sachs angle on AGW.

Got any handy?

One of the things that makes me glad I live in SW Washington, is that we have Oregon between us and California.

Of course we still have Seattle on our side of the river...

It’s a waste of time. I spent months online setting the record straight with liberals and their claims about Palin, backed up with facts. I explained how the money for the bridge to nowhere was already given to state before Palin entered office and the lengths to which Stevens went to remove any strings. I posted her federal requests and budgets showing consistent drops and the necessity to request funds for unfunded federal mandates. None of it mattered. Absolutely not one thing....

I think Obadiah nailed it in post #79

“This is what I have come to learn. Liberals are deeply religious people. They hold a deep, deep abiding faith. They hold an almost unshakable belief in global warming and in government doing “honest” good through redistributing your wealth. They fully believe that, left to individuals, they are not “caring enough”, or “smart enough” to make what they hold as the right decisions. Therefore someone else (liberals) should be in charge of doing it for you. For the good of humanity. That is their faith.

It is a type of faith that they hold to the point of being completely enslaved into dogma. To be a true believer you have to wholly submit and subscribe to the groupthink, and anyone who dares stray from their strict dogma are heretics, fools, and worthy of burning at the stake for their error.

Liberals are some of the most intolerant people you will ever run across. If you don’t subscribe to their faith their group will circle the wagons and actively seek to expunge you and crush you to prevent a possible spreading defection of their clan that truth and light could bring.

If you view this in a dispassionate way you can clearly see how totally taken over these people are. They cannot defend their beliefs with any measure of fact. They hate Sarah Palin, because others hate her and so they feel this is the right response for them even they have no way of justifying it. This is exactly how liberals work. And that is exactly how their whole faith-based system works, from globull warming to socialism.”

I don’t expect liberals to change until after they’ve been mugged. And I believe there’s a whole lot of mugging about to happen.

Here’s an interesting blog from an Berkeley ex-lib:

“I won’t change, I’m a social worker, you know.”

Why do they need social workers in affluent effluent Marin County?

To provide food stamps and welfare to the illegals, so that the illegals can afford to stay in Marin and undercut the construction and service sectors. That way the wealthy can save a few bucks on landscaping and remodeling while the rest of us have our standard of living degraded.

It seems to me that there is more mental illness in the Nation than ever before.

And approximately 99% of those with severe mental illness tend to vote democrat.

Not quite sure what to make of this fact, but there are a lot of them out there.

Glad to see that you kept your cool while trying to explain things to her. You must have felt like a psychiatrist talking to a lunatic.

Speaking of lunatic, did you ever see that interview that FNC had with Jane Fonda? As she ran into her limo, the reporter asked something related to Bill O'Reilly. Fonda's parting statement to the reporter was:

"Bill O'Reilly doesn't exist! He doesn't exist!!!!!!!!!"

They caught the whole thing on videotape!

Like I said, most of the interactions I have with democrats make me feel like a psychiatrist speaking to a psychopath.

There is simply no discussion.

We bring facts, data and rationale.

They bring anger, raised voices and threats.

The recent statue attack on Prime Minister Berlusconi is irrefutable proof that these people are dangerous.

That's why I pray for Governor Palin all the time.

You and I both know that there are people out there who know they cannot counter her arguments, so they will resort to physical violence instead.

That's why I usually avoid having any type of conversation with known democrats: They are mentally unstable people that aren't worth my time.

I can relate. I do the same, except when I email back all the facts relating to the lies they send me, I don’t get a response... they take their ball and bat and go home, until a safe amount of time has passed, (or their empty heads forget about it) and send me more crap, which I just sigh and send ‘em more facts, and round and round we go... sorry, but the line that liberalism is a mental disease, is sooooo true.

"I did come away from the dinner with a bottle of absinthe from my freshly minted sister in law."

A bottle of Absinthe from a newly minted uncirculated SIL? Sweet. Not all's lost. Though in a sense, you kind of paid for it. ;^)

"It’s 132 proof."

Oy vey.
Can double as paint remover. LOL

"Instructions say DO NOT DRINK STRAIGHT. But then again, instructions are more like suggestions."

Yes, in our litigious crazy society including mitigating circumstances would've meant a 55 gal drum.
Enjoy, my friend.

And may I add: A happy, peaceful and joyous Christmas from mine you yours. :^)

A couple of comments:
1. a brainless liberal is redundant, and,
2. I have had several conservations with liberals that went about the same way. One time a woman in our neighborhood said some comments and I asked her some specific questions that she could not answer. I told her that not knowing anything about a topic is the definition of a liberal. I asked her to pick any topic, to become well informed about that topic and get back to me and I would be willing to tell her why she was wrong. She never did.

Uh...Sarah Palin herself, DID state that she could see Russia from her house. Tina Fey followed up with using it on SNL.

So, the upshot is that you went to Marin County, socialized with a liberal woman, and got crabs?

Here’s the actual quote:
“They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.”

It’s true. Part of the state of Alaska is close enough for visual contact with parts of Russia.

I don’t see the words “my house” in there anywhere.

I worked with a number of Ph.D’s.

In what sort of disciplines did these folks hold their doctoral degrees?

Not that it matters ...

Palin’s actual quote was: “They’re our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.”

But ...

“I can see Russia from my house” is much easier to remember.
