Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.
We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.
We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.
Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.
For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.
And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.
FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.
And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.
Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.
FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.
We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.
Keep your powder dry.

All I'm saying is that I have been a FReeper for over 10 years and now I find out I can't believe in evolution, have to be a big C christian (event though I was brought up a Baptist) and have to tow the line on certain things or I'm not a real FReeper.
That sucks.Only if you have a serious case of reading comprehension and arrested development.
Jim said no such thing.
You can be anything you want to be, so long as you don't make it your goal in life to change his site to your delusion du jour; or to insult other Freepers while trying to.

And "intelligent design" had nothing to do with religion, right? It's pure science. Why don't you think it is?

"A great many of us believe evolution is the how, but God is the Why."
Never heard it put quite that way -- been looking for a SHORT way to describe it myself for a while!
Pinging my eldest daughter with whom I have had many discussions on this topic... (We both believe pretty much as you describe -- although she's more of the evolution is the process God put into place, and I'm more on the adaptation is the process side! LOL We agree we may both be wrong on everything except the GOD part! :] LOL )
Thanks for putting it in such simple words...

Only if you have a serious case of reading comprehension and arrested development. Or maybe a case of extreme arrogance and lack of class. Then I guess I could have lunch with you. We could share comic books. Ahole.

From what I have read, Jesus preferred sinners and publicans cause the religious of his day were too interesting...He even called (OMG) a tax collector to be an apostle.. God has a sense of humor, there is no other way to explain a duck billed platypus..
- - - - - -
Jesus knew who would follow Him, regardless of “station” in life or history.
He denounced the Pharisees and publicans, not b/c they were too “interesting”, but because they were too legalistic and had the wrong motivations.
It comes down to Religion (the Pharisees) versus a Relationship (the sinners).
And i do agree that God has a sense of humor, and the duck billed platypus is a good example of that.

He’s looking for faith. The same as Abraham had to endure.

Ayn Rand and the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Ayn Rand is a writer of fiction and the Flying Spaghetti Monster is fiction. Are you saying are rights come from fiction?

No--you didn't offend me. I'm just confused that several things you wrote, in your post #534, weren't anything *I* brought up in #523, which you were responding to.
Keep your books a secret (like Palin on Conan O'Brien tonight), then sock it to em!
Finally -- did you mean Exodus 4:24, or Exodus 24 about Moses?
Cheers!

I recall G Gordon Liddy saying something to the effect that in regards to God: we cannot comprehend the incomprehensible.

Wow, you have been nothing but hostile on this thread. Jumping on several people for the littlest things.
Feeling threatened, or just angry?

The Old Testament is a type of shadow of things to come. From Moses to Christ - they were under the law. From Christ's time to now (until His return) we are under the age of grace. Those under the law were judged under the law - and, as you know, they were treated accordingly.
Before that, man thought he was righteous but lived anything but - then come the law to show them what 'righteousness' was - God's righteousness and man could not ever attain it. Thus, we needed a Savior to cover our sins.
Jesus came as our Savior for all our sins and that gave us a covering and could regain fellowship with God. Without that blood covering, there is no fellowship w/God. Salvation is a free gift - it is by grace THROUGH faith that we receive it - and not by good works.

You must not be aware that I liked to post
Calvin and Hobbes cartoons on the more rancorous crevo threads, before DC got underway.
'Twas sarcasm, nothing more. Using a strawman attempt a humor to illustrate a "devout atheist" 's likely response to your very-well-posed question.
Cheers!

ID is not faith based.
Anyway are you agreeing with me that Darwin is faith-based and saying neener neener so is ID?
Do you know what ID is and do you understand it?
Do you know what Darwinism is?

Honestly? I think the “recruitment” point would’ve passed a LONG time ago, were that group of men still in charge. Heck, if they were still around I’d wager a good-sized bet that the tree would’ve already been watered a FEW times...

What are you kidding me?! I am never hostile here. In 10 years I can only think of 1 time I have been hostile. Oh, wait, I did piss Debbie Schlussel off earlier this week, but I consider that a good thing.
Tell me what little thing I have unjustifiably jumpped on somenone for tonight.

K, I'll plead confusion. I googled the quote "surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me" which is the verse *after* the line about God seeking to kill Moses, etc.
The links I came up with showed that episode in Exodus 4:24-25.
But that was an English translation for Christians, not Jews, from the 1600's (King James).
I guess you are pulling from a Hebrew text with a different numbering method?
Cheers!
