The permanent full time federal employees, most of whom are affirmative action hires, spend all day yapping it up with each other and finding new ways to get through a day (when they bother to show up, which is about 65% of the time) without doing anything useful or fulfilling any of their job responsibilities.

Blacks are over-represented in many Federal agencies. Affirmative action gone wild
Hispanics don't benefit so much
They have not figured out this racket yet at least for Federal employment

Precisely. Folks, tyranny’s already here. Like a previous poster said, Tea Parties and e-mails are not enough to undo what’s happened to what used to be a free republic.

Welcome to the IRS!

I have yet to speak to the same person twice in a week. They are OFF for some reason. And, of course, the next person doesn't have a clue what I told the first person and couldn't care less.

Let the class warfare begin.

Whaddia mean begin?

For years now the private sector wages have been stagnate, now millions in the private sector are losing their homes, investments, careers, jobs, and businesses while the government has grown in size and scope, increasing wages, salaries and lottery style government employee benefits. All this while government continues to grow, and is clearly becoming an all controlling, punitive dictatorship.

As a career federal employee, I would note (as the article does) that a prime reason so many federal salaries are above 100K is that the federal government hires many more people with advanced degrees and skills than is found in national workforce at large. So it’s natural that compensation would be higher for those folks.

I would also note that even though such managers with advanced skills are paid at rates over 100K in the federal government, they could make significantly more in the private sector.

I wonder just what these 'federal workers' do. What are their job titles?...since the report excluded the White House, Congress, the Postal Service, intelligence agencies and uniformed military personnel.

Inquiring minds want to know.

I was waiting for the Free Republic's big government lobbyist to show up.

Tell me Mr. Federal Government Employee, what are all these hundreds of thousands of non-military/national security Federal Government employees doing in these hundreds of high rise buildings, in all these cities across the fruited plain where they need to be highly skilled, with advanced degrees?

If you could be specific?

In addition, if you could tell me Mr. Federal Government Employee, with all these thousands of highly skilled, government employees with their advanced degrees, how is it possible that you people have totally screwed up this government, and our entire economy not to mention our borders and trade policies?

How in the f*** is this possible?

If you could be specific?

Plenty of “green shoots” if you’re a government bureaucrat.

So, “the truth” is that I should lose my job because you’re pissed off that I make more money than most in the private sector? Piss off!

Ya think I'm gunna let you get away from this comment without you responding to me repeated legitimate question?

You're wrong Mr. Federal Government employee.

Actually, you (and I) voted the ones responsible for this mess into office, and most of them will probably be reelected again next time.

What private sector? Government owns 60% of GM, nationalized our mortgages. They are getting ready getting ready to nationalize 1/6th of our economy when they nationalize health care.

Will there be a private sector for our children?

FTA

The highest-paid federal employees are doing best of all on salary increases. Defense Department civilian employees earning $150,000 or more increased from 1,868 in December 2007 to 10,100 in June 2009, the most recent figure available.

When the recession started, the Transportation Department had only one person earning a salary of $170,000 or more. Eighteen months later, 1,690 employees had salaries above $170,000.

The trend to six-figure salaries is occurring throughout the federal government, in agencies big and small, high-tech and low-tech. The primary cause: substantial pay raises and new salary rules.
