COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina's first lady is filing for divorce.
In a statement issued Friday morning, Jenny Sanford said she is filing for divorce from Gov. Mark Sanford, who disclosed an extramarital affair with an Argentine woman after staff reports of a hiking trip on the Appalachain Trail fell apart under scrutiny.
The memo states:
"As so many of us know, the dissolution of any marriage is a sad and painful process. It is also a very personal and private one. Because Mark and I are public figures, we have naturally had less privacy with which to deal with our difficulties than do other couples. Indeed, I know it will soon become known so I choose to release this brief notice that I am now filing for divorce. This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family.

But don't be surprised if they separate and simply set up two separate houses in the same vicinity instead of one house and Tiger's traveling bedroom.

Sanford really earned some credibility with his initial and vocal opposition to TARP and Stimulus.

To me, and I suspect no one else on earth, there is something wonderful about listening to country music playing in the cab, air conditioner running, the hum of a huge diesel engine in the back ground, the tranquillity that comes with being in a virtual wilderness of trees and marsh, the day breaking and vibrant pink coming alive in the morning clouds - and getting to build something with each scoop of dirt.”

His behavior is sickening, childish, and incredibly unbecoming and insincere. He claims the Argentine lady is his “soul mate” and then turns around and states that he wants to reconcile with his wife.
I realize marriage is difficult and people do make mistakes, however, I’m glad Mrs. (formerly) Sanford decided that she should not have to endure the public humiliation that her husband continued to put her through.
I can’t help but think, though, that Mr. Sanford is more than a little thankful to Tiger for keeping the headlines on himself.
Good for Mrs. Sanford. Mrs. Spitzer, Edwards, Clinton and probably Mrs. Woods stick with the sham. Edwards might be the only one who does not have STDs.

I’m mildly surprised she waited this long. Maybe it’s an early Christmas present?
They have four beautiful sons. I feel sorry for them - having their lives shattered in such a public fashion because of the stupid selfishness of their father.
Their sons are old enough to hear the news, as opposed to “Tige’s” kids, who are thankfully too young.
I think that Mark Sanford is menatally ill and that Jenny Sanford had lived with her husband in that mental state for so long that she had gotten used to it. The affair highlighted Mark’s instability, but it took her more than a year to give up. I have to give her credit for hanging in there and trying to work through it.

The Mrs probably had a hard time getting past the whole “soul mate” thing.
Meanwhile the “soul mate” probably has moved on to her next guy.

Jenny Sanford will be just fine in her magnificent Beach Home and away from this love sick puppy.
