The worldâs cheapest car is about to get greener and sportier.
A hybrid version of the tiny Tata Nano has been confirmed by Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Motors, according to South Koreaâs Maeil Business Newspaper.
The current gasoline-powered Nano â on sale in India since April â is hardly a gas guzzler. Powered by a tiny, 35-horsepower 2-cylinder gas engine, the Nano is capable of approximately 50 miles per gallon. A greener variant of this engine (or the larger 3-cylinder motor planned for export markets) could make the Nano the worldÂs cheapest hybrid.

Accelerating from 0-60 miles an hour takes approximately 30 seconds making the Nano 15 seconds slower than the Smart Fortwo, presently the slowest accelerating car sold in the United States Well isn't that exciting?!?!?!

0-60 in 30 seconds. And that’s the “hot rod” version.
I can already see the leftists in their new “hot rods”. Pulling onto the interstate, barely at half the speed limit. Refusing to yield as the enter causing a ripple of traffic congestion behind them. Then cutting people off as they cut across multiple lanes of traffic so they can park themselves in the passing lane - by now doing 3/4 of the speed limit.

Looks like an AWD version would be fun in the snow. I would definitely add a rollcage, though.

We are moving backward. My 1977 VW Rabbit diesel got 50+ on the highway, had room for 4 adults and luggage with comfort and would cruise at 80. You could get in and out with ease and while the ride was firm (not brutal), it handled well. It was a wonderful car.
To: Cronos
The car appears to be a knockoff of some Darth Vaderish toy from Star Wars.

Big deal. The 1992 Honda Civic VX hatchback got 54 mpg and had a 110hp engine. Pretty good umph for a sub-compact.
