Canadas Macleans news site recently published an article titled Darwin movie too evolved for U.S. audiences. The article refers to the decision of US film distributors to pass on the film Creationthe dramatized story of Charles Darwins struggle while writing the Origin of Species. The refusal to distribute a film premiered and acclaimed at the Toronto Film Festival seems to have again roused the Canadian medias scorn of the backward Americans of whichaccording to Galluponly 39% believe Darwin and his evolutionary theory. It is interesting how very differently the Canadian and world media treated America during WW II when far fewer Americans believed Darwin! It seemed then that disbelief in Darwin had little to do with economic power, and backward America was capable of defeating the advanced evolution-believing Germany and Japan economically, technically and of course militarily. After the war a creationistWernher von Braunheaded the Apollo space program. American schools, most of which refused to teach Darwinian evolution, have produced (between 1925 and 1957) more Nobel prizes than the rest of the world put together.
The film Creation (see CMIs review) has Paul Bettany (who seems to enjoy playing such characters, from the dark ecclesiastic agent Silas in the Da Vinci Code to the surprisingly Darwinesque doctor Stephen Maturin in Master and Commander) depict a tormented Darwin who lost his faith in God as he lost his favorite little girl Annie. Dramatic maybe, but far from reality because Darwin had already stopped believing in the God of the Scriptures long before. For a useful reality check on Darwin see CMIs documentary The Voyage that Shook the World.
Why did the distributors reject it? ...

It sounds like a very dull movie. Although, I’m not sure whose religious freedom you think you’re defending here. If anyone’s viewpoint is being squelched in this case, it’s the Temple of Darwood evilutionists. Don’t they deserve the right to have their films distributed?
Ping!
BTW, I watched the other movie mentioned in the article (The Voyage that Shook the World) and it is excellent! It bought it, but it can also be rented through the mail via Netflix, Blockbuster, etc.
All the best—GGG
If I understand the article correctly, the movie distributors concluded there was no market for it. Which makes sense, as the vast majority in the movie business are lefty-Darwinists who would like nothing better than put out something that attacks the Christian Right in way or another.
While some Canadians snear at US their society is crumbling. They are having only about 1.2 babies per couple. They’ve already passed the point of no return.
First Francis O’Conner and now Jennifer Connolly. The Evilution Conspiracy is determined to sell Emma Darwin as a stone fox. It is verily our most eeevile deception yet, and the key to all our plots!
By chance this evening we watched Ben Stein’s documentary on Intelligent Design.
It is amazing the similarities between scientific supporters of Darwinism and Global Warming with respect to their both claiming “concensus” and blacklisting scientists who do not tow the line.
If so, what did you think? Worth seeing?
I don’t think I have viewed the second one, I got the first one months ago. I have since given it to my pastor, and am trying to arrange a screening at my Church...it’s that good :o)
Ben Stein’s recent film “Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed” is a very excellent work and is being shown on cable channels at present. It absolutely documents the behavior of the “science” mafia which ruins lives and careers in efforts to suppress every perceived challenge to evolutionism.
