I was not at all surprised to hear that Rudy Giuliani has lately expressed views that welcome the rising prominence of Sarah Palin in the GOP. Giuliani is the archetype of the politicians who wear the Republican label but staunchly support the pro-abortion agenda. Of course, he imitates the pro-abortion Democrats by using the "pro-choice" label to dress his position in deceptively American garb. The use of that term is one of the most clever rhetorical ploys in the history of American politics. If the slaveholders had thought of it, people like me might still be doing stoop labor for no wages. After all, what could be more American than choice? Isn't that what freedom is all about?
Actually, no; not in the sense of the political liberty the American people have up to now enjoyed. Our liberty is based on the idea of unalienable rights articulated to justify our nation's assertion of independence from Great Britain. "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

It’s amazing that so many folks can read an opinion and discuss the author more than the opinion.
I agree that Alan Keyes lost his way in the political arena, but much his diminuition can be laid at the feet of the media..he has been Goldwatered down and then Borked.

Yup, I used to really like Keyes, sad so much wated potential. Keyes is expert at making good the enemy of perfect. He lost me when he turned on Steve Forbes in 2000.
According to the PUMAs Hillary Clinton actually got more delegate votes in the Democratic primary, but the special delegates threw the election to Lil’ Xerxes.
I don’t know, but they were and are steaming about it still.
Alan Keyes was sent in against Lil’ Xerxes by the GOP machine and abandoned like Uriah the Hittite. They meant for him to fail, and he did. He is still mad about it is my take.

Poll numbers are the only thing I can come up with that Keyes is talking about. I cannot believe they are even polling for 2012 and writing stories about the numbers. Guess people don’t realize the liberal media wants the GOP to skip right past the 2010 elections and concentrate on 2012 ignoring everything else.
Keyes goes too far here, as well as ignoring certain basic truths, first and foremost being that the pro life cause was defeated in 1973 with Roe V. Wade, which grants an almost absolute legal right to an abortion. That is now the law of the land, so I don't know what further defeat Keyes is worried about. Furthermore, the only way to reverse this problem is to overturn Roe V. Wade and get back to the point where it was a state's rights issue, then work from there.
Keyes is so fixated on moral and ideological perfection that he has lost his senses, especially when it comes to trashing Sarah Palin's pro life position.
Me, personally? I just think Alan Keyes should embrace Sarah Palin. He can certainly be very persuasive on life and constitutional issues. The article just reads like a backbiter.
Of course, we’re not supposed to judge, but he appears to have judged. Just sayin’!
I used to like Keyes. I even supported him against Dubya in the 2000 GOP primaries. Then, after hearing him speak more, I realized that he’s bat guano crazy and switched my support to Steve Forbes.

I welcome this reminder from Keyes. Lately on F.R, I've noticed the Rudybots coming back, One yesterday referred to Rudy as a "Reaganite". If memory serves me, it's this kind of talk that resulted in the great purge.
Keyes is not electable and that's a great loss because he may be the most conservative politician in the country. I would and have voted for him

This issue, whether or not the right to life is considered to be UNALIENABLE FOR ALL, is the KEY QUESTION that will determine the fate of the pro-life movement, the survival of our form of government, and whether or not America will continue to be the home of the free.

It is absolutely a phony "state's rights" issue just like slavery was. Killing the innocent is never a right that be can granted or exercised objectively speaking.
Sarah Palin, with her thoughtful speeches, her book and her courageous action of willingly giving birth to a Down Syndrome child, has inspired many pro-choicers reevaluate their position on the issue.
Keyes, with his angry rhetoric, only inspires them to harden their pro-abort position.

Thanks E.V. for posting this, you are ‘ever vigilant’ in respect to the pro-life cause. I did not know Palin was pro-choice, unfortunately it seems that she is yet another one of those pro-choice politicians who say abortion is not for them, but they would not stop someone else from making that ‘choice’ to murder their own unborn. She says it should be up to the states to outlaw ‘murder’. States rights are more important than the right to life?
I totally disagree. Abortion is a state's right issue just like slavery was. To back peddle the abomination of Roe to the "states right's" issue is granting a legitimacy to killing the innocent that never existed prior to 1973. Then once you have granted that legitimacy how are you then going to take it to the next step of truth that "All men are created equal" and "In God We Trust"?
Abortion needs to be treated as the abomination that it is and we all need to keep fighting to the ultimate goal which is to banish it from America because it has no place here. We cannot give up because the tide it turning in favor of truth as indicated by the latest polls. It will be a long battle against evil and will not end anytime soon.

Can you show me where in the Constitution a bunch of black-robed legal hacks, responsible to no one and entrenched for life, are allowed to make law? Law-making is the job of the elected legislative branch. The majority of Americans are now pro-life.
Keyes is a disaster as a politician, because politics today is all about selling out the people and compromising with evil. Keyes is the conscience of America, not a politician.
Oh, Palin is not “pro choice”. She’s pro-life. She just feels that the best way to deal with abortion is at the state level.
