Ultimately Abortion should be prohibited through a right to life Amendment. However, that is not going to happen overnight. It is completely unproductive and stupid to attack as “pro choice” a politician who wants to see Roe v. Wade overturned so that we can start outlawing abortion across the states. Alan Keyes - who I have contributed to in the past - would be far better spent attacking those who do not agree with him 95% on the life issue. Shooting all of ones allies will not win any wars.
I understand the difference between what is politically possible and what is true but I am unwilling to compromise my moral high horse. Lincoln and the abolitionists rode this damn moral high horse towards the banishment of slavery and we fought the bloodiest war to free men from other men.
Can we move in the right direction by politics, absolutely, but I don't want to paint ourselves into a corner by stating that the states have some sort of self granted right to allow the wholesale killing of the innocent.
Abortion was legal in many states prior to 1973. Do you deny this or do you say that it's a meaningless fact? I bring it up because that's the situation that we'll revert to when Roe is overturned. Do you deny that? Put your feelings aside for a minute and just look at the legal situation.

Yeah, we really suck at that in NJ where we just elected Christie who is not the greatest pro-life politician, but a step in the right direction.
OK, so why hasn't this been done? Republicans had strong majorities fairly recently. If not then then when? In my political judgement, The SC is the key, not Congress.

I would vote for Palin in a heartbeat and I hope she runs. I never said I agreed with Keyes bashing Palin in this article.
I’m not sure I understand the ambassador’s question. If having a dedicated, principled pro-life political candidate who can win both primary and general elections, even with her party machinery against her, even in down years for the party at large, is a pitfall, it’s one we need more of.
The ambassador and the governor are two people I’d personally rather be friends. I think they’re broadly sympathetic already. The ambassador can give the governor a master class in political philosophy. The governor can give the ambassador advice on how to win elections. Both things matter.
The danger for Palin is fatigue, getting sick of hearing her name, and her peaking way to early ... She couched her words on the Orly interview, for instance, when asked if she thought Obama was a socialist, her answer should have been one word, “Yes”. Reagan called evil evil. I’m totally pro-Sarah but she’s starting to sound like a politician and that turns me off, if ever somebody comes along and calls it like it is that person will be the one that forms the true rallying cry, it could be Sarah, but she’s couching her words, let her speak the truth and let the chips fall where they may ...
It would appear that the bills, which have been introduced in the House and SINate for MANY years now, are read and referred to committee where they die -- much like our babies -- a slow and painful death.
IIRC, in 2007 or 8, the House bill had over 100 sponsors and co-sponsors. I can't find anything in regard to debate of voting on any of the bills.

Keyes sees problems with Palin saying murder of the unborn is a state's right. Why should he not speak out about this when Palin is out there claiming to be pro-life?
Nowadays anybody can 'claim' to be whatever, if anything making Palin answer her pro-life critics can only help make the pro-life argument imo. Freepers continuing to try to disparage any and everyone from criticizing Palin's positions as mere Palin bashing does no one any good.
To revert to pre-Roe, it would just take a 5-4 SCOTUS vote, which could already be in place, just awaiting a relevent case to come before it.

Her actions clearly demonstrate Sarah is pro life where it counts—in her heart. Keyes, you’re a smart guy, please put your talents to good use. Communicate your advice directly to Sarah.
