Avoid Black Friday, Nov 27th Stay out of debt, Save for the Political battles in 2010

We all know the economic planners want us to go right back to where we were, going in debt to buy things to make the economy look better for the next election. That's why they are keeping interest rates artificially low to get more and more people to borrow at low interest things they really couldn't afford at market interest rates.

If you can't buy it with cash don't buy it. Also conservatives should live within their means. Your kids will be better off not having some consumer products now if we can get some more people that will preserve our society and Constitution in November 2010.

The older I get the more, if not blasphemous, then at least superficial the common practice of Christmas presents seems to get. A good, personally written card says as much if not more. If spending, spend on family and neighbors truly in need — this is more in the spirit of Christmas.

So true. When the Walmart and Wall St types are selling their souls to the DNC let we the people not fund any of it.

My friends, family and I decided that there will be no gifts this year. I’ve avoided Black Friday for several years now anyway in favor of purchases by telephone or internet. But the reasons are not really economic; it’s just that I can’t stand hordes of people.

If I’m going to keep the businesses in business, I would rather spend money on them all year long, rather than all in one day. Overall, I think it’s far healthier for these companies from an economic standpoint.

The last few years, I had taken to giving gift cards. I budgeted a certain amount of money per recipient, and that’s how much each card was worth. Saved me the hassle of crowds, overloaded internet servers and the trouble of trying to find a gift each person likes. At the same time, the recipients can spend the money whenever they like, thus keeping the vendors profitable.

I agree, I would be happy with only one present (if that)..spend my dough on those in need in Christ’s name.

Exactly, the holiday season is all about fellowship to me. Thanksgiving is giving thanks for my family and for Christmas the only gift I need or want is to see my family.

I am willing to bet Black Friday this year will either be totally subdued or will be reported as having panicky shoppers all across America acting as frenzied looters.

Its gonna be tough now that Obamas “stash” is all gone and a lot of inner city folks ain’t gonna get none of the corn bread so to speak.

I’m telling everyone that if you must give me a gift, make it survival gear - ammo, water purification tablets, compass, etc.

Buy ammo.
Shop on line and don’t pay sales taxes, buy from second hand stores to save money and keep your tax footprint small. Make gifts if you can.

Cut your spending to the bone.
JOIN THE TAX REVOLT
CUT YOUR SPENDING to the bare Bone.
Use CASH, no credit or debit card.
Don’t give to Washington
Don’t give it to Wall Street.
Don’t put it in the Local Bank
Take your extra cash and bury it in the “back yard”.
And above all tell your “career politicians” why you have stopped spending.
Tell Washington to stop their out of control spending.

The only legal to stop paying taxes is to stop spending money. All taxes revenue are result of an exchange for goods and services paid for by the end user of that good or service.
Only use Cash. The green stuff.

I’m on strike as a consumer until real Americans take back our government. I am boycotting ALL TARP/Bailout companies forever, and I am minimizing my remaining consumer spending until January 2013.

Good points all. But may I add that, if you don't want to support Obama’s socialist economy, or spend yourself into debt, why not volunteer?

Charities such as the Salvation Army are always in need of people to help out. Those bell ringers/kettle attendants are often in short supply at this time of year. Or how about spending some time with our wounded, elderly and ill veterans at the local VA hospital? Or packing up some toiletries and other items to send to our troops?

Lots of ways you can help your fellow man (or woman) without enriching the coffers of our spend-spend-spend politicians.

Save money on Black Friday? Hell no, not me, no way! I’m going to Costco today and splurge on some racks of pork spare ribs and a couple of big salmon fillets and convert them in my homemade smoker into delicious smoked ribs and Gravlax respectively. I just love to p*ss money away on Black Friday!

Excellent point, and that is exactly what I am doing. My skills are not going to waste - either in the sense of supporting an evil socialist or in the sense of stagnating.

LOL! We made our Costco run today, too. All items were needed. I can’t help what day it is.

I have to tell you all that my mom and I had a lovely time this morning shopping together. I was home just as the kids were waking up and she got home before she had to take care of my grandma. I was able to pick up some items for our family that have nothing to do with Christmas but had been considerably marked down. Had I bought them two days earlier I would have paid twice as much. Seems kind of silly to me. We’re always on a tight budget and I’m always looking for bargains. I love Black Friday!

Costco contributes major dollars to the democrats.

Sorry you spent your hard earned money that way...

Sam’s club is a supporter of republicans.

I’m also supporting all the people that are employed by Costco in our area so it doesn’t bother me. My parents have the Sam’s card and we have the Costco card. The things I can’t get at Costco I buy when I’m with my mom and vice versa. It works great for our family.

Does Sam’s Club have a pizza food court? It sounds like a stupid question, but that is the deciding factor, since the two seem so much alike.
