Any FReeper, and there are plenty here, who believes farmers can only care for animals in the way the non-farmer believes is best, is wasting compassion on a non-human.

As long as humans deserve compassion, and they should, first, then animals should be relegated compassion somewhere down the line.

I believe the father had been the one raising her. He sent her to visit her mother once the mother got a stable job and home. I think I read that the little girl had only been with the mother for a short time when this happened.
