I think your other ideas are great! TORT reform was ALL it took here in Texas to do a complete 180 on the Doctor exodus that was occurring here. Heck, we have had more hospitals being built in the rural areas than at any other time in Texas history - doctor-owned hospitals. Doctor’s could not AFFORD to do business in Texas. So, we made it affordable again, and the doctor’s returned - funny how capitalism works like that! They should try stuff like this in Washington, D.C.!

Do I think there are problems - YES. I have health insurance through my company; I NEED the group insurance, so I only work for companies that offer insurance - period. Let me explain, that “I” don’t need it, I go to the doctor about every other year. But, I have four daughters with a “pre-existing medical condition,” and THEY need medical care. My youngest daughter plays football for her Junior High School, and last Tuesday, she blew out her knee while making a beautiful come-off-the-block, behind the line of scrimmage tackle - but I digress (and proudly). So, I have LOTS of medical expenses, but it is not the job of other Americans to pay my bills!

Now, if they would allow me to purchase a catastrophic plan or donate to a permanent HSA (like a 401k), then I would NEVER buy insurance, because I would NEVER have a need for insurance! Another issue is hospital and doctor’s bills. If I can’t afford a meal at Olive Garden then I can look at maybe going to McDonald’s for this meal. With hospitals and doctor’s you don’t have that convenience. Most hospitals and doctors do NOT tell you up front the costs associated with services.

My mother needed knee surgery and she shopped around until she found a doctor and hospital that did it for the lowest amount possible - kind of like when buying a car, or purchasing furniture. These things would make hospitals think about how much they charge if they knew you could compare their rates from one hospital to another in the area.

I think people understand that the TARP bailouts are a one-time event, the TARP program is half-way complete, and there won’t be a TARP II because of no political support. So suing to stop TARP doesn’t make much sense now. Cap and trade and health care haven’t been passed, so there is no law to sue to overturn. I don’t think anyone can sue to stop proposed legislation in congress. If either of those bills is passed, I’m sure many people will sue to overturn them as unconstitutional.

Will all the welfare leeches be forced to pay for their health care too?

If so, I’m for it.

If not, dead against it.

It either applies to EVERYBODY or nobody.

A new round of foreclosures will simply hasten the collapse of our economy. That is the true goal of these commies. They cannot implement their brand of communism with our economy in tact.

No they won’t have to pay for almost most of it. The bill gives big federal subsidies to low-income people that pay for about 90% of their “qualified” Cadillac health insurance. Who pays those subsidies? Everyone who works and pays taxes.

My teen kid have been hit by a number of uninsured drivers. In talking to the police I’ve learned that 1/6 drivers on the road does not have insurance. In all cases the damage to the cars was more expensive than any injury. Do you think that the drivers of cars without insurance should have to pay the $600 dollar fine? If they don’t should they go to jail?

yeah, but people are only required to buy minimal liability insurance to cover anyone they run into. That requirement is for the protection of other people. It’s not a requirement to buy collision or comprehensive insurance. Required car insurance also costs only a few hundred bucks a year, not the outrageous $5-15K cost of the “qualified plans” in the PelosiCare bill.

Ding ding! You are right is for the FINANCIAL protection of other people. That's what seems to be the discussion point regarding carrying health insurance. Especially when someone HAS TO PAY given the law of the land and energency health care.

You could be right. I'm not sure what they're thinking. They may just be too stupid to see the connection between very high health insurance premiums and mortgage foreclosures.

If these leftists in congress don't begin to understand that LESS government intrusion in the economy generates more economic growth, then we may end up in a second great depression.

Whi exactly is opposing Pelosi next year? I haven’t heard of any candidate.

The former head of HP is running against Boxer.

The former head of E-Bay is running for Calif Governor.
