RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block Tuesday's scheduled execution of sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad.

The Court did not comment Monday on why it refused to consider his appeal.

Muhammad is scheduled to die by injection at a Virginia prison for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in October 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

I can’t see how it would benefit Obama to commute the sentence. If anything, it would make him even less popular.

I continue to believe that the Court would be wise to adopt a practice of staying all executions scheduled in advance of the completion of our review of a capital defendant’s first application for a federal writ of habeas corpus.... It would also serve the interests of avoiding irreversible error...

Fortunately, no possible moral error here; although lawyers would certainly look for a legal technicality to excuse the inexcusable.

100% spot on correct. As it was it turns out that seven of the 9 Dems voted out in Virginia state elections were antigunners. It seems that this past election day was a one day no limit open season on antigun state level politicians.I think voters in the state of Virginia are getting sick and tired of having their own state level pols try and take away their 2nd Amendment rights. Maybe because they think they're going to have urgent need of them soon? We'll see.
