The U.S. Army's top general expressed concern on Sunday that last week's mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, blamed on a Muslim Army officer, could fuel a backlash in the military against Muslim troops.
General George Casey, U.S. Army chief of staff, cautioned against jumping to conclusions about whether religious beliefs motivated the accused gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim born in the United States of immigrant parents.

"I'm concerned that this increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers. And I've asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that," Casey told CNN's "State of the Union."
There are about 3,000 Muslims on active duty military service or in the National Guard or reserve forces, Casey said. They remain a small minority within the U.S. military.
A Fort Hood official has said Hasan yelled "Allahu Akbar" -- Arabic for "God is Greatest" -- just before the shooting in which 13 people were killed and 30 wounded. The 39-year-old U.S. Army psychiatrist was shot four times by police. He was hospitalized but no longer needed a ventilator to breathe.

After reading the stories worrying about the “backlash” against Moooslumz, I would guess the solution is to get rid of the infidels. You know, the Christians and Jews. We are the problem not the followers of the Religion of Piece. (I know, I know but I was thinking of those 72 virgins)But as for me, there is no way in Hell I will spend money at any establishment owned or run by a Moooslum. And it is for damn sure I will not let one get behind my back.
this is not the first time a muslims has killed fellow service men
remember anyone when a muslims threw a grenade into a tent because he did not want to fight against his so called fellow muslims but did fight against us
correct right from the get go the feds said that this was not a terrorist attack
bozo is dong everything he can to not say this was islamic terrorism.
not the first time another muslims has thrown a grenade into a tent too.
If all hell doesn't break loose before that.
Which is what you're proposing to do. There are 3,000 or so Muslims in the Army. One shot up Fort Hood and killed 13. Your solution is to get rid of the 2,999 or so that have done nothing but serve honorably. You remind me of the liberals who's solution to someone who commits a crime with a gun is to ban guns from everyone.
The military and the CIA/FBI are actively recruiting Muslims, supposedly for their language skills.
This is short sighted PC and in fact terrorism on all Americans.
They do not belong in the military or ANY government agency that deals with classified information. ISLAM is the enemy, anyone with any brains knows that .
We have placed the enemy in our camp.
Who knows how many of our soldiers in Iraq were killed not by Iraqis but by a muslim “comrad”
Our guys need to watch their backs when there is one of them around.
What utter trash! OF COURSE religious ideology had EVERYTHING to do with this man’s murderous act! By his own admission in his proselytizing of his patients among other strong indications.
Absolutely we should prevent the enemy from thriving in our country, much less in our armed services!
Hey RN, nice to see you here again. PC is going to kill us all. My wife and I used to joke about going to live in her home country. We do not joke much any more. We are seriously considering it now. Too much PC and socialism/communism here.
Kest we forget!
N-S, I must say that you’re being naive in the extreme here.
So how do you tell the difference?
Obviously with Hassan, you could tell, but political correctness prevented action.
If reporting of hostile statement is acted on, you’ll have people making them to get out of the military. Fine. And you’ll have would-terrorists clamming up. I don’t know how much surveillance of personnel’s computer use and associations goes on, but if the military is serious, that’s got to be done too.
In the meanwhile, we don’t need Muslim immigration any more than we needed communist immigration.
“”I’m concerned that this increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers. And I’ve asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that,” Casey told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “
Which is why this nutjob was allowed to do exactly what he did even while practically telling folks he wanted to do it.
Punish those who fear this type attack for speaking out.
I’m afraid to say that it seems we are fracking doomed.
I'll trade your 8 or 9 Muslims for the thousands of Christians slaughtered in this terror fest.
YHvH's blessings on you and your house.shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiachLong time no HEAR.
I'm pretty sure we didn't have any card-carrying Nazis among our troops in WWII !
(Don't anyone tell me about the 44th infantry; they were courageous Americans who willingly sacrificed much to prove that they loved this country too. You'll notice they were NOT used in the Pacific Theater...)
Are you referring to this part: "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law"?
Just give them some due process and then apply the penalty.
Will that work?
“Why don’t American Muslims stand up to Islamism? I wonder.”
Because my FRiend, the terrorists are the true believers, for a “mainstream” muslim to denounce them would be like a Christian denouncing the saints!
If the shoe fits.
The myth of "merely for who they were" continues.
It was the combination of who they were AND the closed cultural imperative of never 'giving away' a member, even when they engaged in treason.
Perhaps you would like to debunk the facts?
Give it a shot.
And just for reference...
Take your time.
I think you are right, but..
I added the comment, American, because I worked a few years with Turks here and in Ankara. Virtually one-hundred percent of Turks are Muslims. They were all great people, the one's I worked with and met day-to-day living in Ankara.
.. also in recent years hundreds of thousands of Turks have taken to the streets denouncing Islamists in Turkey -- especially the ruling Islamist AK Party.
I don't think the Turks are going to go quietly, the secularist and Kemalist Turks that is. Maybe when the Turks are finished combating their Islamist problems we can out-source out Islamist problem to them. :)
