FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) ― Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.
The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

I’m sure Obama DID go and visit Fort Hood. We just don’t know about it because he warned the media that he did not want this to be a photo-op.

I believe those of us who never abandoned him are in the majority. We have been bullied into silence, but there are millions upon millions of us who "got it."
And now others seem to be catching on.

That is terrific, absolutely terrific. I hope Obama feels like the small and petty man that he clearly is. Bush had his faults, but he and his wife were perfect examples of class, decorum and grass, and they continue that tradition while out of office, as well. Good for them.

We miss you, President Bush. When it came to respecting and honoring our men and women in uniform, having that respect be entirely mutual, and being the right man at the right time when it came to understanding the Islamofascism that imperils the free world, President Bush had few equals. I hope that history will give him the recognition due him.

President Bush always loved and supported our troops. He genuinely stood behind them and shed tears for them and their families. President Bush being the gentleman he is and following proper protocol probably waited and then decided to heck with it...he and his First Lady Laura were going to go and visit the wounded and they did instead of letting so much time lapse. God bless them.

Ya know, you may be the first to state the obvious; that this IS Bushs fault. Bush got us into Iqaq, Zero inherited this situation;... Hasan is simply a disturbed victim of Bushs legacy.I guess you missed my "/s/" tag?
Did I miss yours?

The trip was NOT on O’s agenda. It was added later.

Bush was sincerely fond of the troops.

Between this story, and listening to old Reagan speeches, I actually was able to convince myself this morning that the nation was still sane.

Bush, for all his fault, does have some class. Something the Democrats do not have a drop of.

Tee time? Someone needs to tell him there is a decent course on Fort Hood. Not very far from the scene of the murders. Closer than the hospital that the Police Sgt was taken to, or the Army hospital for that matter.
I believe he is scheduled to come sometime next week, welcome or not.
