It would be nearly impossible for 11,000 absentee votes to close a 4,000 vote gap.

Hoffman would need 7000 of those votes just to keep even with Owens in the final tally.

That would be 64%.

I suppose it is faintly possible, but this is a 3 way race and it is hard to crunch the numbers in a way that would be plausible for a Hoffman victory.

I was channel switching between Fox, PMSNBC (who had the absolute worst coverage), and CNN. I was surprised none of the Democrat commentators made mention of the fact that Sarah Palin went to bat for Hoffman and sent him money from her PAC, but he still lost.

I think we sure have work left to do here, folks, if we had Rush, Sean, Glenn, Sarah, Mark Levin, the Thompsons, ALL pushing Hoffman in the last few weeks but he still lost.

I don’t know: maybe people didn’t want to vote for someone who looked like Barney Fife. I guess voters CAN be that shallow: look how many women voters voted for Barry O because of his looks.

He conceded. But for an unknown, and no backing by the RNC, he did great! And this was a special elections race. Not a regular seat. Another race for that seat in 2010!!

"She ENDORSED OWENS, the DEMONCRAPPER."

All in all that doesn't excuse the voters in upstate New York. It must be something in the water.

And the alleged Republican jumping on the Democrat bandwagon, instead of backing Hoffman, didn’t help.

Let them say that all they want.

It is pure BULL!

It is very rare, in this country, for a 3rd Party candidate to do as well as Hoffman.

Conservatives did NOT suffer a loss in the 23rd. Instead, conservatives fought the good fight, were wildly outspent, and have an excellent shot at taking this seat in 2010 -— at the same time conservatives probably ended the career of a RINO!

I was skeptical when some our side got all giddy when Scozzafava dropped out. And even prior to that when the momentum shifted to Hoffman. Deep down I had this feeling that Scozzafava would play the spoiler with Owens winning in the end. I don't think it was a mistake for conservatives to get behind Hoffman. It was a mistake for the GOP party bosses to support someone like Scozzafava in the first place.

What happened?

The RNC screwed the pooch on us.

How would one try to STOP an upstate conservative uprising?

Make sure the upstarts get an early defeat to attempt to demoralize them.

It would not suprise me if the local GOP Chairman in walk-step with the National GOP screwed Hoffman’s Pooch.

It won’t work. But I can see how they might think it would.

Hell, Drudge had a picture of the GOP Call Center yesterday.
IT WAS EMPTY. Not one person manning the huge bank of phones.

Onward To Florida!

WAIT A SECOND PEOPLE...I thought we’ve said, ad nauseum I may add, that we’d rather have a dem in a seat screwing it up then a Republican screwing it up. Hoffman made a pretty good showing, all things considered. Let’s not make more of this than need be. There will be good that comes from this. The republican Party will have to decide who it wants to be...and that we will make sure we show up for.

There are also voting machines in 4 precincts which have been impounded by court order and won’t be counted tonight.

McDonnell is not a moderate. His tone was moderate but his rhetoric was conservative. I’m 27 and have been following politics since ‘88 and I’ve never seen a Republican run as good of a campaign as McDonnell did. He had conservative solutions to the critical issues. Christie may be more moderate, but he ran pretty conservatively for the past month or so. He’s certainly more conservative than Christie Todd Witless.

Hoffman fought the good fight. The rinos will likely blame Palin, Rush and the rest of the evil conservatives.

But the base will be more enraged at how the rino screwed us in the race. How the establishment rinos are doing us by going rat lite.

It sucks, but oh well. We’ll get them back next year. We will continue to watch these rinos.
