Castle Rock, ColoradoDespite the first major snowstorm of the season, and unrelenting efforts by malicious Darwinists to prevent people from registering, a huge crowd of around 1,000 people showed up Friday night to hear Dr. Stephen Meyer present the DNA evidence for intelligent design based on his new book Signature in the Cell. Meyer, Michael Behe, David Berlinski, and myself are in Colorado to speak at the Legacy of Darwin ID Conference sponsored by Shepherd Project Ministries. On Saturday, Michael Behe will present the evidence against modern Darwinism from his books Darwins Black Box and The Edge of Evolution; David Berlinski will talk about The Devils Delusion and The Deniable Darwin; and I will talk about my book Darwin Day in America. Any fair-minded person in the Denver-Castle Rock-Colorado Springs area who still wants to come is welcome to purchase tickets at the door on Saturday morning starting at 8:15 am. The conference is taking place at the Douglas County Events Center. As of tonight, the malicious jamming of the Shepherds Project website seems to be continuing. Not content to suppress free speech about Darwins theory in schools and colleges and the media, some Darwinist vigilantes are now apparently even trying to stop intelligent design proponents from speaking at private conferences. Fortunately, their suppression tactics dont seem to be working!
Too bad they couldn’t get Behe to review his testimony from the Dover trial.
I have a great deal of empathy for Behe. While I support his positions on Intelligent Design I understand the scientific and academic communities stance. Creationism and Intelligent Design, like the existence of the soul, cannot be scientifically proved.
Consider these comments:
“If you can imagine a world in which the likes of C-Y-C, GGG, and ES have positions of real authority and influence you can appreciate what turned Charles Darwin against organized religion.” and
“”The tactics you are uning to try to stifle discussion of evolution by attacking Darwin wont work by trying to stifle me either.”
Not just nonsupport but anything less than full-lunged, wide eyed support is censorship. Remember O'Brien is watching!
How about intelligent design theory?
I don't respond to reductio ad absurdum arguments.
My point is we all have to live with the consequences. You don't think that we have to live with the consequences of all the government school kids being taught nothing but Evolution/Darwinism and no argument against it? And if you think there are no consequences there is little hope for you.
Very typical of the totalitarian mindset.
You have to pick your battles. If we create educated, thinking students through legitimate primary education they will arrive at the right conclusions with respect to ID and the Creator.
But, these are your posted words, aren't they?:
If you can imagine a world in which the likes of C-Y-C, GGG, and ES have positions of real authority and influence you can appreciate what turned Charles Darwin against organized religion.
Creationists live in a world where Darwinists have positions of influence and authority but don't worry, they prefer to argue with Darwinists to suppressing them.
Granted, and I'll take it that you are infering that you are fighting the good fight the way you think fit; but I will fight for the right for all to argue all points of for and againts Darwinism/Evolution in any given forum.
So, was your shrieking, illogical, factless style of debate created or did it just evolve?
Then we will be at odds because, like Darwin, Pope JP II, Pope Benedict XVI, and the Roman Catholic Church I believe in Intelligent Design. I do believe that God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it, but I believe that he also created processes to bring and sustain life in a dynamic universe. The more scientific research I do or read about the absolute perfection of Gods work the more I say....WOW!!!
What about the protests from creationists and their campaign against the Vatican meeting on evolution? No, I didn’t hear of any such either.
It was your comments that were pulled, not mine. And you aren’t doing any better here.
There were indeed protests and a wave of condemnations following the release of the conference proceedings, but I didn't see either of you lauding the conference as a triumph of free speech. It just confirms that you really don't care about free speech, just about your specific advocacy.
My post was pulled because I made the mistake of using the grown-up potty word "crap" on the Religion Forum. It had nothing to do with content or conduct. However, since your big sister isn't here to protect you and you can't hit the abuse button on this forum I am pretty safe.
Your guessing again, and missing my point. My point is that all should be able to have the the right to argue all points for and against Darwinism/Evolution in any given legitimate forum; not whether or not whether Darwin, Pope JP II, Pope Benedict XVI, and the Roman Catholic Church believe in Intelligent Design.
As to Darwin believing in God or not is a different battle for a different time.
The only thing I remember from that conference is the IDers (many of whom are Catholic) being unhappy that they were not included in the origins discussion at the Voatican.
No, not so. Your comment #20 was pulled (because the Mods read your comment without my help) because of profanity so tell that to someone else.
And the rest of the Darwin myths thread is still there for all to read. I invite all to do so.
