Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.
Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

If Gingrich trys to get on the ballot........ let’s just not even let THAT happen! Hell’s bells! I’LL run against the SOB!
The NRCC supported Dede Scozzafava, candidate for the NY-23 congressional seat, with almost $1 million. She has now endorsed her Democrat opponent Bill Owens. This represents a colossal failure on the part of the NRCC, and Republicans across the country deserve an apology and explanation. I thought the White House's vetting of personnel was bad, but the NRCC's neglect to ensure that Ms. Scozzafava even marginally adhered to GOP orthodoxy is appalling. If you haven't noticed, money is tight across America. How can you in good conscience ask Republicans across the nation to forego spending on all manner of needs when you waste it on candidates who have no party loyalty? Why should the people of country trust Republicans to be better administrators of the national budget when the NRCC has proven to be such poor steward of the hard-earned contributions of so many? If it's not too much trouble, I would like a response. If my request takes time away from your support of other unworthy candidates, then all the better.

The idiot calls himself a conservative republican - Now we have to figure out where that leaves us...
I agree.
Great letter, vamoose!
Did you send it via their new $1.4 million website - it’s reasonable to assume that they haven’t figured out how to use anything on there besides the ‘donate’ button.
Check it out gop.com - $1.4 million - now aren’t you just dying to contribute to those fools...
What was conservative republican was his mask and now that’s off - we don’t wear masks! ;)
Perfect! Keep us updated.
Why is it that Newt thinks everyone gives a darn what he’s doing? I keep getting emails announcing when and where he will ‘appear’.
Example: (I should have posted the rest of his announcement from “Education Road Tour with Gingrich, Duncan and Sharpton continues” on Newt.org:
Now does anyone really care about this?
“Gingrich is confirmed for a full day of activities on November 3, beginning in Montgomery with stops at the Rosa Parks Museum and Carver Senior High School.
The schedule will shift to Macon County with Sharpton arriving to join Gingrich at a luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sportsbook Restaurant at VictoryLand in Shorter. Following that gathering, Sharpton has another commitment and will leave the tour with Gingrich visiting the Multicultural Center in Tuskegee at 2:20 p.m. before moving on to the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site and Museum at Moton Field at 3 p.m.”
I hope they’re serving crow!
Let’s hope this clears the way for a Republican victory. My only concern though, is a backlash with the female vote. We’ll see.
Conservatism is principled. It’s not a show.
I’m done...
I know.
I prefer the following. When a liberal gets that patented look of supercilious fatuity, and begins to say, "A mind is like a parachute..." I interrupt and finish the sentence for them.
"Right. If you've lost yours, don't expect to borrow mine."
Cheers!
The term RINO is now a misnomer. People like Scozzafava are precisely what the GOP wants to stand for. Liberalism.
If you'll look at her press release when she withdrew, I don't believe she said that or endorsed anyone, just something about making her party (GOP) stronger.
I wish we weren’t right.
