Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.
Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

Can the RNC get their million dollars back from Scozzafava with the claim she accepted the money on false premises?
Hahahahahaha! The RNC is dumber than a sack of potatoes. At least, the sack has useful purpose.

Those who are true conservatives in NY are under no delusion that most NY Republicans are conservative. In NY a truly conservative candidate will typically garner about 30% of the votes of the electorate. In most districts, there simply are not enough conservatives to support a Conservative Republican. NY-23 is one of the few exceptions, which makes this situation such a shame to have come about. The reason that RINOs win in NY State is not because the National party has “chosen” those candidates, but because RINOs are typically the winners of the Republican primaries. I’ve been working here in NY for conservatives in the primaries for years and I happen to actually know how these things work in NYState. Whether conservatives in the heartland of America like it or not, it is not possible to elect true conservatives in many of the NorthEast congressional districts. The choice we have here is often either RINO representation or Socialist representation. There is no “conservative” possibility in many districts.

In my opinion, as far as republicans and conservatives go, her political career is over. And I hope she doesn’t think the democrats are going to take her either. Her task is over!

Hoffman still has a fair chance in NY-23.
I was watching the world series last night... I’ve never seen so many political ads, and Hoffman has his share, and the RNC is running ads for him, too.

Steele’s screwups include, dissing Palin, dissing Limbaugh, and the Scozzafava kerfuffle. There seems to be a paucity of political acumen. He needs to think about leaving his post.

From Darrell Issa:
UPDATE - Astonishingly, the Republican nominee in the special election has dropped out, and endorsed the Democrat! Just hours before she endorsed the Democrat, she received calls from Barack Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. She also received calls from the Chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Chuck Schumer. Was Scozzafava promised something in return for her endorsement of the Democrat? Time will tell.

We should have an interesting discussion of this late Tuesday night.
All you RINO killers - this is your big test. Hope you were right - really, I do.
The White House wants the GOP to be worried about the latest events in NY 23. It's about controlling the message. This morning, they were out in force on Sunday political shows indicating that NY 23 was a sign that the GOP was becoming marginalized by the "extremes" (Conservatives) in their party. Ref.
Jarett: GOP Leadership Becoming Extreme From the article,
............
Senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett said on ABC's "This Week" that the late withdrawal of a moderate Republican contender from an upstate New York congressional seat last week was evidence that GOP party leaders "are becoming more and more extreme and more and more marginalized. Look at the number of people who actually say that they are registered, consider themselves a Republican.".............
Their new mantra is "Moderates and Centrists need not apply to the Republican party". LOL, I've already seen these words posted in various leftist blog comments today.
They are trying to strike fear in the GOP to not follow the Conservative path for fear of losing their "big tent". The GOP should ignore them and ask how Dede was ever considered moderate or a centrist. She just happened to be picked by a few Dem-lites in this district, without the impact of a primary process.
The White House think they're pretty smart at this point. They're hoping they can maximize Repub's fears. They've been trying to persuade Dede to back Owens. She could have endorsed him last night, this am. No, she waited until obama's administration could get their "extreme" message out, then she followed up with her endorsement.
It's becoming quite the message game at this point.

I know that they do. I’ve been part of these situations here in NY State. However, what occurred in NY-23 was atypical. If you wish to be educated about it see:
http://www.tcotreport.com/
This had nothing to do with the National GOP, and did not reflect the local desire.

Wow, what a big shocker...not...
Newt was in F&Fs’ this morning trying to excuse his endorsement of the democrat in Republican clothing...
How anyone in the Republican party in NY, or even that district could justify or excuse one damn thing between now and...whenever...Is beyond me...

She might as well put a (D) after her name and get it over with.
No Republican will ever trust her again.
