Gingrich endorses Hoffman Posted: October 31st, 2009 01:04 PM ET
From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston
WASHINGTON (CNN) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week's special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.
Gingrich made the announcement via Twitter shortly after the Republican Party nominee Scozzafava announced she was releasing supporters from their commitment to back her.
"Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman," Gingrich wrote on Twitter. (Tweet shown as it appeared)

He was on Fox a few days ago supporting Dede, and sounding like a dope. I’m really disappointed in Newt.
Twitter is the best he could do? His time looks to have passed.
>> Others of conviction stepped out fully risking the MSM ridicule.
Hoffman is emblematic of the sea change that is determining the outcome of these events. Those who have endorsed Hoffman are signaling their commitment to Conservatism. The contra-Hoffmans wanted us to believe that that only the GOP machine is capable securing future victories. The ‘contras’ are wrong.
I’m not sure the MSM is relevant as far as NY-23 is concerned.
Ok, then station people just outside the radius of the poll where election speech is permitted, and hold up the front page of the NY Post, covering the fact that Dede has pulled out of the race.
Thanks for the support.
Don’t run for president.
>> He is irrelevant. He is a has been.
He reminds me of Graham.
>> The pubbies gotta announce big and loud.
We’ll see, but I’m not holding my breath.
Couldn’t you just split a gut?!?
It is what he has become. Newt for Newt. He thinks he is the professor of the Conservative movement.
Watch or listen to Newt. He wants everyone to think he is the smartest person in the room and since he says something we should all bow down at the temple of Newt.
Just last week he said that the conservatives that were against his move did not know what they were doing.
Looks like it worked out in the end.
To see what the RINOs are doing?
I’m glad to read your comments, publana.
I agree with Dennis Prager that gratitude is an important and underappreciated virtue. And I think we owe Newt more gratitude than he gets on this forum.....his recent errant ways notwithstanding.
Hank
I agree.
I recommend telling the RNC they’ve lost our confidence in every reply envelope they send asking for money.
I send a nice message back in their pre-paid envelopes telling them how disappointed I am in their choices, their inability to control RINOs, and their lack of direct communication with the American people. They have just become part of the same ol’ insider machine. I close my note with the statement that I’m only sending money to conservative individual candidates this year.
It’s very satisfying.
Did he cry?
My guess is Nwet will get an invite to Hoffman’s swearing in???!!!!LOL Seriously, next yr. he will be campaigning for Doug. Mark my words. Pols turn on a dime.
Yes, that made me laugh too. I also like the one about being “newtered.” People on FR are so clever.
The horses ass is always the last part to get through the barn door.
*grin*
....from the wordsmith!
Our response: "TOO LITTLE TOO LATE". Newt, we are no longer interested in you as a political candidate or otherwise. You betrayed your principles and compromised with the liberals who want to destroy all conservatives be they Republican or democRAT. So do us all a favor and go away!
