Group Calls on Gingrich to Rescind Endorsement of Scozzafava
Christian Newswire ^ | Oct. 30, 2009 | Catholic Families for America

CFA Executive Director: "While I admire Newt's intelligence and respect him as a fellow Catholic, his crass, political calculation in endorsing such a pro-abortion candidate sends an unfortunate signal that party loyalty is more important than morality. Newt needs to examine his conscience for so publicly flouting the Church's doctrine on abortion and gay marriage."

The majority of Catholics voted Obama. And dont forget Biden, Pelosi, Kerry...all Catholics all pro abortion and pro gay marriage.

He has an easy out, if he would take it. He can simply say he wanted another Republican to stop Pelosi, and at the time Scozzi was it. Now that she has botched her candidacy, he supports the only remaining viable Republican.

Don't you mean conservative?

Screw the Republicans.

Loyalty to "the party" at all costs? Even if your morals and integrity are compromised?

Sorry Newt, it doesn't (and shouldn't) work that way. As a Catholic who is beholden to Scripture should know, that we are to test EVERYTHING through the lens of God's Word. Yes, and that means even the motives of the GOP...

Too late. Gingrich endorsed, did not withdraw his endorsement, and so he has picked sides. Newt always seemed a little bit too careful in his politics and views, but maybe he’s dated himself this time. So long Newt, been good to know you. Sarah, appoint him as ambassador to China or something when you get your next job.

I strongly disagree with anyone and everyone who has a blanket criticism of Mr.Newt. ... those who call him “RINO” or “Dem” or anything other than conservative.

Mr.Newt has been more of an asset to the Conservative movement than almost anyone else in the country now alive. In this case, I completely disagree with his support of the old power structure, as I have on one or two other issues.

Those of you who have only been peripherally involved in political battles, instead of having been immersed in them as he has been, have not seen as many disappointments as he has and NOT ONE of you engineered the conservative takeover of the House in 1994 as he did. He sees with some justification that in 1993 moderate GOPers won and started the snowball moving for that takeover. It is my belief that he was lied to about the way NY-23 candidate was chosen, and that he doesn’t understand the demographics and dynamics of NY-23. This clearly was NOT a “local choice” as he has repeatedly stated, and he seems to believe. I hope he goes to www.tcotreport.com and educates himself today about this situation. And by the way, I do NOT believe that “oh- she supports abortion- I withdraw my endorsement” is a valid response.

I honor his service, his opinion, and the important insight and actions he has brought to Conservatism and continues.

You who do not are more destructive to Conservatism than Mr.Newt will ever be.

Amen + 1!

Newt needs to do a year or two of penance for his matrimonial sins, his political sins, and his incredible pride. I think he's minimizing his own faults (I NEVER do that, of course.) and he won't be credible and his soul will be in peril if he doesn't get his shizzle together a little.

It would be about typical for that nutless wonder to do so, then turn around and pat himself on the back for being right.

“He just recently converted to Catholisism”

I thought it was said that converts make the best Catholics.

I believe Newt went ‘Hollywood’ a long time ago.

His ‘let’s get along no matter what’ philosophy has marginalized his standing in the conservative movement.

JMO...

Newt is the guy who did commercials about global warming WITH a democrat. He got thrown out of his office when he cheated on his wife. He supports a pro abortion candidate when he claims to be a catholic. Now those are some serious contridictions. Ya, he is bright and writes good books but he is a RINO.
