He has an easy out, if he would take it. He can simply say he wanted another Republican to stop Pelosi, and at the time Scozzi was it. Now that she has botched her candidacy, he supports the only remaining viable Republican.
It would be no less shallow or craven than much of his other political machinations over the last few years.

I'm reading his book To Try men's Souls. Hard to believe the same Newt who wrote that excellent book about George Washington. The same Newt who pushed the contract with America is supporting Dede in this race. Very discouraging.

I began to worry about Newt even further back than some of you.
I have a picture of myself with Newt, back during the San Diego convention.
He used to be one of my heroes.
Then, he PRAISED FDR, for his DOMESTIC policy, during the Clinton administration, while we were fighting to stop Clinton's socialism-light.
