Barack Obama was nearly denied the photo-op he traveled to Dover Air Force Base for early this morning as all but one of the military and civilian families of the fallen refused permission for the media to report on the return of their loved ones.
The sole family to allow media coverage was the family of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin.
According to media reports, Griffin's casket was the last to be brought off the C-17 cargo plane that carried the bodies of 15 soldiers and 3 DEA agents killed this week in Afghanistan.
That is a stark contrast to the reported 60% approval by families for media coverage since Obama lifted the ban on media coverage in April. Byron York reported a month ago that media interest has plummeted since April such that at most dignified transfers there is only an AP stringer there to take still photographs.
Obama met with the families of the fallen at a base chapel before the dignified return took place.
AP raw video of the military's dignified transfer of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, featuring Barack Obama.
Obama's photo-op last night was the culmination of a long campaign by Obama's left wing allies like Code Pink to give aid to our enemies by highlighting the deaths of America's servicemen and women in the war on terror.
While not casting judgment on the decision by the family of Sgt. Griffin, the near unanimous decion of the families to deny Obama his photo-op, compared to the average 60%, is telling.
The ban on media coverage of bodies returning to Dover was criticized for shielding the public from the human cost of war. Complete BS!...it was done to shield and protect the families of the fallen who didn't want cameras there!
IMO, that disgraceful Socialist joke of a CIC doesn’t belong anywhere near our patriots. Just the sight of him at Dover turns my stomach.
Thank you for serving. It must be difficult to see the debate raging at home and still have to be ready to fight if called.
I agree. I have to turn away everytime he salutes the Marines coming off our Planes. And the way he holds his arms when he deplanes reminds of a Candy A$$. I had to vent.
It makes me sick to see that moral leper rendering a hand salute.
Me too. Knowing he loaths to do it everytime makes me smile.
I thought that was pretty bizarre - not that the families would do it (deny permission), but that the WH is so nervous Gibbs would go ahead and say this.
Most people do not want the death of a loved one being turned into a photo op, and Bush never asked them to do that; in fact, he tried to protect them.
Obama is a whole different ball game. In his mind, it’s all about him...
.
I love the facts behind the story, k. Any way to verify this? (I’d love to point my lib friends to a third party source.)
Can we get the other 17 families together to speak up and speak out against Hussein?
“I wonder if Zero has continued President Bushs practice of personally writing the family of each and every fallen soldier?”
Given the low class of this outfit, they probably send an iPod of Odumbo’s speeches or a DVD of his immaculation.
Obama is truly a sick man.
PRIORITIES MATTER!!! Union photographers get paid overtime for night pictures!!
Thank you for posting a picture of Odumbo looking for Bin Laden on all the golf courses of America. Wonder when he’ll invite OJ to join him in a round.
wonderful story, and yes I did notice the print gets very blurry...
That's an insult to the devil. He's much worse than that. I wonder where they do those Obama popularity polls, because in my neck of the woods, only about two people out of twenty have a favorable opinion of the man (and those two are borderline iffy about their support of him). Those who voted for him, have expressed great concern of what he (and Pelosi) have already done to our nation and about those with whom he has surrounded himself. Obama himself (by his incessant need to foist economic chaos upon us) is chasing people to Limbaugh, Fox News and Glenn Beck.
What you do will long be remembered.
My husband still tells me about the time he was passing through a small town in the Midwest and he had his uniform on (in the late ‘50’s) and was having dinner in a restaurant. Some community club was meeting in a banquet room and when they spotted my husband they paid for his dinner. As a young man without much money he was very grateful and still remembers.
wonder how many Obama photo-op requests the White House put out before they got a Yes.
Who would want to give a photo op to a Marxest president who doesn’t care if your loved one lives or dies and loathes the military? No one I know. I certainly wouldn’t.
17 families out of 18 denied Bozo. Only one - the last coffin off the transport allowed it. Wonder how they were strong-armed to do so & consented in their grief!
Very telling what the rest of the families think of Bozo.
