Barack Obama was nearly denied the photo-op he traveled to Dover Air Force Base for early this morning as all but one of the military and civilian families of the fallen refused permission for the media to report on the return of their loved ones.
The sole family to allow media coverage was the family of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin.
According to media reports, Griffin's casket was the last to be brought off the C-17 cargo plane that carried the bodies of 15 soldiers and 3 DEA agents killed this week in Afghanistan.
That is a stark contrast to the reported 60% approval by families for media coverage since Obama lifted the ban on media coverage in April. Byron York reported a month ago that media interest has plummeted since April such that at most dignified transfers there is only an AP stringer there to take still photographs.
Obama met with the families of the fallen at a base chapel before the dignified return took place.
AP raw video of the military's dignified transfer of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, featuring Barack Obama.
Obama's photo-op last night was the culmination of a long campaign by Obama's left wing allies like Code Pink to give aid to our enemies by highlighting the deaths of America's servicemen and women in the war on terror.
While not casting judgment on the decision by the family of Sgt. Griffin, the near unanimous decion of the families to deny Obama his photo-op, compared to the average 60%, is telling.
George Bush routinely met with families of the fallen. Many of them met in the Oval Office. Pictures were only taken at the family’s request.
Amazing how Obammy gets his photo-op only months after personally removing the photograph restrictions.
Curiouser and curiouser.
I wonder if Zero has continued President Bush’s practice of personally writing the family of each and every fallen soldier?
(yea right, like I need to ask..)
Obie is a sick, evil S.O.B.
It makes me sick to see that moral leper rendering a hand salute.
Interesting story
RIP to our brave men. I suppose for Sgt Griffin, the poser’s political posturing using his body and his family mean nothing anymore, anyway
The more I learn about Obama, the more I loathe him. Obama is twisted.
While I would applaud him if this was a genuine gesture, yet because he has never done this in his 9 months as president and only now chooses to do this as he is facing critisism for dithering in making a decision regarding Afganistan.
We Americans need to bolster much more support for our servicemen because they need it more now than ever.
Obama cares not who dies, only that he can use it for propaganda photo ops.
If I were still in the military, I’d resign before I’d salute “our commander-in-chief”. Obama belongs in the circus.
More questions the Drive-By Media will never ask.
He is the on that killed these boys by not sending more troops to help..He has the nerve going where the boys come home for the last time..I'll bet those soldiers would have spit on him if they could..I would.. We the people know what Obama is and know his tricks he made a mockery of these family's..
They do get letters and though they are signed by ‘Zero’ he didn’t write them he ‘farms’ that out to Bill Ayers to do.
Yes, I noticed that. Gods blessings on all the families of the fallen with a special thanks to those of the 17.
Did someone in POTUS’ posse put the arm on the family of the LAST guy off the plane?
bookmark.
I wonder how many Obama photo-op requests the White House put out before they got a “Yes”.
Comments on the video are saying that Bush never once went to Dover to meet the families. Is this true?
If true, I’d have to imagine he didn’t want to interject himself and all the hoopla to turn it into a photo op - like zero just did.
