I don't take any pleasure in saying this, but it seems pretty obvious that this was nothing more than a photo-op for Obama. He
used this person as a prop.
While I would applaud him if this was a genuine gesture, yet because he has never done this in his 9 months as president and only now chooses to do this as he is facing critisism for dithering in making a decision regarding Afganistan.

Unfortunately, it appears you are correct. It is so very sad. The fact that Obama has never done this up until now is key.

This is what bothers me. If he was truly sincere and genuine, he would do it from the goodness of his heart and out of concern for the families. There would be no need for a photo op; and in fact, no need for the general public to ever know about it unless the families wanted to publicly talk about it.
