17 of 18 Families of the Fallen Denied Obama His Photo-Op at Dover
Thursday, October 29, 2009 | Kristinn

Barack Obama was nearly denied the photo-op he traveled to Dover Air Force Base for early this morning as all but one of the military and civilian families of the fallen refused permission for the media to report on the return of their loved ones.

The sole family to allow media coverage was the family of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin.

According to media reports, Griffin's casket was the last to be brought off the C-17 cargo plane that carried the bodies of 15 soldiers and 3 DEA agents killed this week in Afghanistan.

That is a stark contrast to the reported 60% approval by families for media coverage since Obama lifted the ban on media coverage in April. Byron York reported a month ago that media interest has plummeted since April such that at most dignified transfers there is only an AP stringer there to take still photographs.

Obama met with the families of the fallen at a base chapel before the dignified return took place.

AP raw video of the military's dignified transfer of Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, featuring Barack Obama.

Obama's photo-op last night was the culmination of a long campaign by Obama's left wing allies like Code Pink to give aid to our enemies by highlighting the deaths of America's servicemen and women in the war on terror.

While not casting judgment on the decision by the family of Sgt. Griffin, the near unanimous decion of the families to deny Obama his photo-op, compared to the average 60%, is telling.

I know what you mean.

I bought lunch for a serviceman who was waiting standby for a flight home...he was shocked and said it had not happened before. I hope he is seeing our appreciation for all the troops.

I directed him to FR!

People see through this man. I’m sorry for the families of those who have fallen, and my heart goes out to them. To the families this is a somber moment, but to Obama is just a photo op.  I’m glad these families had the courage to not allow this moment to be memorialized by pictures taken with this man.

I wonder if Zero has continued President Bush’s practice of personally writing the family of each and every fallen soldier?

Obama probably got his teleprompter to write them, while he headed back to the golf course for an "all guy" foursome.

Whenever I am at a pub, bar or club and there are service men and women they are swamped with folks buying them drinks and saying thank you.

I saw at one place and a large number of USS Kennedy officers were having drinks. At the end of the night their entire bill was paid for by the regulars and everyone else.

They never even saw the bill! Just were told people appreciated their service and paid it.

I saw ob on tv today commenting on the trip to Dover and how he felt about our soldiers’ contribution. Did anyone else notice how deeply ob’s brow was knitted and how serious, sad his eyes appeared as he spoke about our soldiers? I can only say that the man feels nothing and all is an act, a game, a “I got over on ‘ya” with this psychopath. Bet he checked around afterward and asked, “how’d I do?” THE FAUX PRESIDENT...THE ONLY TRUE MEASURE OF THE MAN IS THE DEEP LOVE HE FEELS FOR HIMSELF.

What is the new ROE that have been changed besides the lack of laser guided bombs w/in a mile of civilian houses. Is there a change in ability to return fire, or anything like that. Freepmail me if you want.

Pray for America and Our Troops

Kiristinn, where is the story about how the families denied O the op? I’d like to send this story around, but I need some independent source.

What a despicable photo monger and worm!

God bless and give comfort to the suffering
families. May the souls of the brave lost
be at peace.

The first thing that sprang into my mind when I heard the talking heads gushing about it this am was “photo-op”.

They also did not hesitate to stress that “this is the first President in recent memory” to honor returning fallen troops at Dover. In reality, it’s the only one with cameras in tow.

If he really wanted to honor them, he shouldn’t have brought the press. This is so telling!

But most of all, it was the height of stupidity. We all know that President Bush did all sorts of things to honor the fallen, but did so quietly, privately and with dignity. A pragmatic reason was that he couldn’t do the same thing for everyone. By showing up to greet the caskets, Zero has instantly alienated every family to come when he DOESN’T greet their family member!

Again, a critical misstep by Zero and his minions.

Now that you mention that, I have a story such as that too! I once worked for an Arby’s restaurant. I had a manager there who had been in the Navy. He was an older man about in his late 50s-60s or so. Sometimes when military people in uniform, happened to come in to order, he would quietly take them aside and tell them that their order was on him!

He would tell them discreetly and pay for their meal! I was impressed with him that he did that! I don’t know what he did when it was crowded. Maybe he slipped them their money back on the sly, I don’t know. It’s my guess He may have wanted to do for them what was not always done for people in his generation. He looked to be a Vietnam vet, or a Vietnam-era veteran, so it stands to reason, perhaps.

Obama is feeling the heat, hence the photo op.

Exactly .. as contrived backup that’s supposed to
simulate his concern for the troops when he denies
the military the vital support HIS expert, Gen.
McChrystal, specifically urgently requested. His
base just takes priority.

He IS the devil’s spawn .. I don’t care who he
claims his father is.

There are 17 suffering families who blessedly
refused to be used as political pawns. God
bless and comfort them.
