THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.
The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."
The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.
And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.
Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.
Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.
Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.
I'm really trying to be polite in the face of your ignorance, but your assertion that "[y]ou dont get your agenda advanced if you are not in office" is laughable. Tell that to Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.
This is on her FB page.
Once again, Sarah Palin does the principled thing, endorsing Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman. Sarah did not toe the party line, because she knows that the Republicans have sold their souls to the Washington Establishment. SO the RINO’s are on notice — if you support PRINCIPLED, CONSERVATIVE, CONSTITUTIONAL government and candidates, I will vote for you. If you don’t, I WON’T. THANK YOU SARAH! Conservatives, SUPPORT Doug Hoffman in NY-23!
He’s got a point. The HW Bush crew, with out a populist bone in them, tone deaf to the max, left a huge opening for Perot. So too today’s RNC.
I understand what you're saying and agree with you.
But are you contending that Hoffman cannot win in NY-23? Certainly, it's a more favorable area for conservatism than is the entire state. And it's a largely rural district, without an urban area, and a media market that is, at best, awkward -- not lending itself to dollar-driven media blitzes.
My sense is that a Hoffman victory is feasible. And, not only that, vitally important -- if we're to get the GOP leadership's attention.
He may have a point in some other thread about national third parties, but in this thread, he’s simply a drooling idiot. :)
It’s an extremely sad state of affairs to be sure.
What a AD!!!!
More donations needed!!!!!!!
I think he would draw a few hundred at most. But he can raise money and lend credibility. Palin is the one who’d draw crowds.
He had probably just got off the phone with me. I told him just what I thought about Newt and his endorsement.
That is what I’ve been doing. It’s distressing, though, to be forced to vote for the lesser of two evils - seems that has been the case since Reagan’s 2nd term ended.
Something like 80% of Perot voters were conservatives and this in effect got Billy Jeff elected.
I exactly remember how BJ got elected in 92 and despite Bush not being good enough, the stain of the Clinton presidency was even harder. You need to use your brain and logic for a change.
Otter, you are the rush chairman. I think you should be present at the rush party.

Urg, I still remember that episode when I was younger. Think it had something to do with the fact that someone ‘needed’ a hand, so he pulled his arms off and regrew them moments later (cause he’s a sponge, ya know). The show ran with it as a gag for the rest of the episode.
/wonder if I can be considered old now
Nah, I think she just threw down the gauntlet challenging the GOP to return to its roots, and stop being the Democrat Lite party.
The end result of Hoffman splitting the vote is a Dem get elected.
It does’nt matter what the intentions are, what matters are the results.
With this being an anomaly, not being compared to other areas or states,
Hoffman does stand a chance as the Gal is tanking and her
left wing background being exposed further, this has helped Hoffman.
The 23rd Dist are around 8 upstate counties, not much population and around 45,000 more Republicans than Dems.
1 congressman for several counties.
this is different to my county, San Diego which has 5 congressmen and population several times that of these counties together.
