The special election to fill New York's vacant 23rd congressional seat is perhaps the earliest test of the GOP's chances to reclaim the House in 2010. Yet the GOP candidate, Dede Scozzafava, has struggled to line up Republican support, and has taken a pummeling from conservative groups that assert she's liberal. The Club for Growth and Eagle Forum, among others, support her opponent, Doug Hoffman, who's running on the Conservative Party ticket.
Add North Texas' Dick Armey to the list of conservative stars backing Hoffman. The former House Majority Leader has confirmed to the Hoffman campaign that he'll spend Thursday with them, said Rob Ryan, a Hoffman spokesman. "He is with us almost all day Thursday," Ryan told me. "There will be a bunch of different events." Armey's endorsement of Hoffman is personal and wasn't offered on behalf of FreedomWorks, the conservative foundation he chairs.

You are correct. Pete Sessions, the chair of the RCCC should be targeted for retirement. He definitely needs to step down from the RCCC over this.

I encourage you to contribute anyway. This district elected a conservative last year, and rejected a RINO on the same ballot. The district voted 65% for John McHugh, a man who has represented the district for many years (19 I think), and who has a lifetime rating of 71.55% from the American Conservative Union. On the same ballot, John McCain, RINO for President lost this district. It went 52% for Obama.
I feel strongly that this is a district where a Conservative independent can beat two liberals, even in a straight up winner take all race. The thing that is distorting this race is the big money flowing to the Dem and the big “R” libeRal. On the issues, Doug Hoffman is much, much closer to their previous congressman, John McHugh than either of the other challengers.
I’m unemployed, and I gave what I could. I actually have a scanned copy of a check for that amount, and I plan to obscure my account info, and print a two sided color copy of the check, which I will send with "I support Conservative Candidates" written across the face of the check in the latest RNC fundraising return envelope. I'm becoming convinced that the people opening those envelopes at the RNC throw away everything but the check itself. I hope by putting my message on an actual “check,” someone might actually see the message.
This is one district, the only Congressional race this November. Owens will probably be a problem “blue dog” to cause some problems for Pelosi. Scozzafava will definitely oppose everything I value, even as she claims to be a Republican. And, my research indicates that Hoffman is closest to the representative they elected by 65% last November, a reasonably conservative Republican. He is electable and can win this district. In a fair fight, with a national party behind him, he should be a slam dunk. So I don’t believe I’m doing any harm with my donations.
Donating to Hoffman gives me something I can send to the RNC and RCCC to show my position. There is some value in that.
This is a right leaning district. See above in this post, and my other posts in this thread. This district elected a conservative Representative by 65% last year, while rejecting McCain.

what we have to do is to stop independents from voting in our primaries and then we will stop getting RINO’s.

Bingo...Democrats crossing into the GOP primary revived McCain's moribund campaign...they wanted the weakest possible candidate to go up against the eventual Democrat nominee.

The Republican that just left the seat to serve obama wasn’t great but compared to Dede he’s Jim DeMint.
A pro-partial birth abortion, pro gay marriage, pro-card check ultra RINO is not “necessary” to win an evenly divided (Bush narrow win in 2004, Obama narrow win in 2008) and historically Republican district. Try to have some idea of the facts. ;)
Where besides NY is there a third party contest at this time? Wondering because this is a State event rather than a National event such as was Perot.
There is a difference. I’d alert caution as well were this a National Election event, and the numbers were dubious for the third party candidate(s).
Your delusion is that Scuzzy is a conservative. This isn’t Bush the Republican vs. Perot the independent; this is Hillary the “Republican” vs. Reagan the conservative.
Yeah, but I'm willing to bet that Dem voter fraud was at the very least greater than Hussein's 25K margin. If I am correct, the blame doesn't rest with Barr. It rests with the spineless Republicans that have refused to go to war over all of the Dem and ACORN voting related fraud. They capitulated (couldn't take being called racists) several election cycles ago. Now we are here. With fairly dim prospects for any improvement.
