'Cat killer' strikes again
The Sun ^ | October 19, 2009 | John Coles

A SERIAL cat killer is feared to have launched a new murder spree - just miles from where eight pets were poisoned two months ago.

This time four treasured moggies from the same street died in agony within one week.

Tests show they had all swallowed a toxin believed to be anti-freeze.

Cops are still hunting the maniac who used the same method to kill eight cats in one road in Bridgend, South Wales, over three weeks in July and August.

The latest killings took place in Caldy Close, Barry - just ten miles away.

Two neighbouring households in the quiet dead-end street each lost two cats to the fiend between September 29 and October 6.

Devastated Stephen Griffiths, 25, and his partner Sarah Jones, 32, are still in shock at losing beloved family pets Sugar and Pudding.

Sugar, an unfortunate SCK victim.

A map of the SCK's cat killing spree.

It's unbelievable when you have an SCK (serial cat killer) poisoning cats with antifreeze. How low can he go?

I mean, if I were a SCK like him, I would have changed my attack methods, the time of day (whether morning, midnight etc.), switched locations, irregularly varied the time span between killings and irregularly varied the level of brutality to my feline victims to make it look like there were multiple cat killers instead of a lone SCK.

This guy has made a common revealing mistake by using the same method on his feline victims. Eventually, he may slip up and risk being caught.

Wonder how this guy is getting into peoples houses and feeding anti-freeze to the cats.

Animal cruelty is not a joke but many many pet owners are quite irresponsible.

How can one take this seriously after that?

The serial cat killer doesn't have to enter the people's houses. He just drops some antifreeze somewhere near a driveway, baiting the cat to come and ingest the sweet but toxic liquid.

...but many many pet owners are quite irresponsible.

Correct. Irresponsible by NOT keeping their cats within the bounds of their premises at all times, leaving them vulnerable to the unscrupulous behavior of SCKs.

GB is a country with a population of feral youths terrorizing their law abiding citizens and their police are pulling out all stops on some cat deaths?

Many cat owners think nothing of letting their cats out to run the neighborhood and then cry when something happens.

Beloved family pets should be kept in the beloved family home.

Depends on the neighborood. Here in my tiny town cats seem to run loose a lot but I've never had any problems with them. There are a lot of dogs here in town but to see one wandering loose is pretty rare.

Copycat killer commits purrder

By HARRY HAYDON

Published: 28 Aug 2009

A COPYCAT serial cat killer is believed to be on the loose after five cherished pets were found dead on a Yorkshire estate.

The sick animal hater is believed to be using car anti-freeze — just like a twisted attacker who killed eight cats in Bridgend, South Wales.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the Bridgend pet killer was using the spiked drinks to slaughter pets within a two-mile radius.

Now five cats have died agonising deaths after being targeted in carbon copy incidents in the village of Maltby, near Rotherham.

The latest death left Emma Smith and her four-year-old daughter Freya heartbroken when their five-year-old cat Chloe died after being fed the lethal substance.

Emma, of Maltby, said: "I can't believe that anyone would do something like this - it is basically murder.

"The last hours of her life must have been hell for her, she was in agony. We've had Chloe since she was a kitten and trying to explain to your four-year-old daughter that she is not coming home is just heartbreaking.

"I don't want anyone to have to go through what we are so I would warn other cat lovers to keep an eye on their pets."

After speaking to neighbours Emma believes at least five cats have been recent victims of poisoning.

Emma first realised something was wrong when Chloe was having trouble walking and appeared to be stumbling around.

Within hours the white and grey cat had collapsed, lost her sight and couldn't hear.

She was rushed to a vet's surgery and was then taken to a specialist animal hospital in Doncaster.

After a series of tests the animal medics confirmed that Chloe had been poisoned — probably with anti freeze — and the sick cat had to be put to sleep.

Andrew Fletcher, who lives nearby, found his ginger tom Lockie collapsed on a lawn near his home after being poisoned.

He said: "This is just plain murder. I have other cats and while I can't keep them in, I am worried about what might happen to them."

Police in Rotherham are appealing for any information.

My area in Florida has a HUGE feral cat problem. Mostly because of people who let their cats out at night and they never return.

Then theres the cat poop in my bushes and patio. I have little sympathy for cat owners who let their cats roam.

I’m amazed that they are calling cat killing MURDER. The world has turned upside down.

I could not sleep at night if my pets were running loose. Cats are vulnerable to all sorts of things if they are not contained (and you simply cannot keep them in a yard). It’s sad that someone is killing them, but why do people keep pets if they don’t want them secure?

A waste of perfectly good antifreeze.

I disagree with the terminology here; MURDER involves human victims and applying it to mere animals devalues the inherent value of human life.

We’re a dog town but the dogs never run. Mine are in a fenced yard and my neighbors have 6 beagles in a kennel. I bet I haven’t seen a cat wandering down the alley for 6 weeks or better.

Very often, people who start with torturing and killing animals progress to torturing and killing human beings.

Unfortunately, in GB, the justice system has become so soft on all sorts of crime, that it’s hard to say how much good tracking this psycho down now will be in preventing future murders of humans.

More precisely, most people who torture humans (including sadistic rapists) began their deviancy with torturing animals.
